“Delicious, high-end smorrebrod”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

Even though Aamanns is a little out of the way, it is definitely worth the trip. You won't get traditional smorrebrod here but rather "modern" smorrebrod, with high-end, delicious ingredients. Each piece was a bit pricy (50-65 DKK), but two pieces was enough for a good lunch. Definitely try the "special" smorrebrod with fried fish. The restaurant is opening a location in New York City relatively soon, and I will definitely be making a trip there next time I'm in NYC!

“The new best place in CPH for smørrebrød”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

This is a new entry in the traditional Danish food race, but a very good one. Word I hear is that Ida Davidsen is very worried.

“Perfect Open Face Sandwiches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

The Danish Open Face Sandwiches here were a work of art and very tasty. The staff was helpful in making good suggestions. I would love to return.

“Best smoerrebroed in Denmark”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

Aamanns is the best example of Danish national dish, smoerrebroed, in a more contemporary disguise. If you want to try Danish smoerrebroed Aamanns - along with the more traditional Told & Snaps close to Nyhavn - is an absolute must.

“Odd set menus”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2012

We took the 6-course tasting menu, together with the accompanying wines. The food was fine albeit minuscule portions that were brought out far too quickly in sucession. The problem is that the "suggested wine pairings" come out at the same rapid speed and since they are all 0.2l galsses, it means you end up drinking 1.2l of wine per person with what amounts to very little food. 5 out of the 6 wines were whites, which gets boring and samey very quickly. None of the wines were particularly memorable or outstanding. 5 of the 6 tasting dishes were cold, the halibut being the only cooked dish. It's an odd sort of place, I think it has pretensions to be something grander than it is. The location is a bit out of the way. It probably would have been a better experience had we stuck to just the set food menu (375 DKK) and a beer or two, and not taken the accompanying wines (which are another 375 DKK).
When the bill arrived we were actually charged 395 DKK for the food and 395 for the wine. Turns out the Danish language menu and the English menu have different prices printed on them! They did charge us the lower (English) price in the end.
