“Excellent food, and welcoming staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

L'Olivier had lovely food, and great wine!
The owner/chef, and waitress was very helpful with everything from explaining the menu and helpful with the choosing of wine.
The restaurant is located in a not very crowded street, but it is still not far from Forum Metro station, and definitely worth a visit.
If you are looking for great, french food in Copenhagen, this is the place to go.

The restaurant is not very up to date, furniture-wise, but we didn't really care about that, as we don't go to a restaurant because their furniture is the newest in town! ;-)
Ps. they don't play any sort of music there (at least they didn't while we were there) and would've liked it, if they had played something, just some background music. Because the acoustics in the room did let us hear everything that was said by other guests etc.

But all in all, we were very happy when we left, and we are definitely going back!

“Not recommended”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Having been a resident of Copenhagen for twelve years this place certainly didn't impress. Both service and food quality well below what you can expect at other places similarly priced. Our visit last night was the first and also the last.

“A safe choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013 via mobile

this restaurant is A safe choice. The cook and his wife who is the waitress provide a genuine French experience. The menu seldom changes but who cares when the moules, the confit de canard and all the rest is cooked with that special something that makes a good kitchen.
It is a true neighborhood-restaurant so do remember to make A reservation.

“Very french - fair prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

L'Olivier has been on Vodroffsvej for at least 14 years. I don't know if it's the same owner/chef, but on our recent visit the chef/somlier/owner was definitely French, although he spoke Danish. Our waitress were also French spoke som English - all of which just added to the charm.

We had the Foie Gras (Classic serving), which arrived VERY cold at the table - a little too cold for my comfort and had a glass of Jurancon (Domaine Cauhapé) to accompany it. Very nice (especially after the Foie Gras approached room temperature). For the main course we went with medaillon from lamb which was tender and spiced with lots of Herbes de Provences, and our choice of Chateau Coufran to accompany it may have been wrong, but we enjoyed it.

Service was friendly and not overly intrusive. Pricing was average and quality better than average. At these prices you can easily get something worse.

“Terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

We came to this restaurant because it had been recommended to us by friends. We were a large but very well behaved party of 12 people.( our wedding anniversary] The waitress was very rude to us and seemed to be annoyed before we had even ordered. one of our party is a vegetarian which was met with a face of absolute disgust. We had to wait and hour and a half for our food and one of our tables was not even offered drinks during this time. The food was good when it came but the ambiance and the way we were treated was terrible. We were told that our coats were being put in a special place but when we went to retrieve them they were in a pile on the floor of a broom cupboard. If you want a pleasant night out in Copenhagen avoid this restaurant.
