“Real Danish food at reasonable prices”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Whenever I have foreign guests and want them to have classical Danish food, the Cafe Petersborg is one of my favorite places to take them. The selection covers meat and fish dishes (no vegetarian food). The servings are large. You can have Danish beer (and snaps, if you like), but wine is also available. The surroundings are old fashioned as the food. The staff is friendly and helpful. Don't expect new Nordic food - this is Danish food as my mum cooked it.

“Fast food slow service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

Need to wait to be seated even though nobody was in the line. Then we felt strangers here, waiters talked to locals ignoring our presence. Food was not too bad but seemed to be from supermarket, just dressed at their kitchen. Won't come back, don't recommend.

“Authentic Danish Fare in a Quaint Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

After watching the changing of the guard at Amalienborg Palace we were really in the mood to eat Danish and with the extra added incentive of a 10% off with our Copenhagen Tourist Card, Café Petersborg was just the right place to dine. When we stepped into this ancient restaurant with its slanted floors, low beamed ceilings and period pictures we knew we had a winner. Of course smorrebrod was the meal to order. With small open faced sandwiches of shrimp, roast beef, herring, smoked salmon, cheese and meatballs to die for we were in Nordic heaven. We savored every bite except the lard...did not understand it was traditionally only for herring until later. We would highly recommend this unique restaurant with reasonable prices. Our "dessert" was the short walk to the little mermaid.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

We wanted to try the traditional danish sandwich of sorts (I can't even try to spell it, let alone pronounce it). After walking for a while, we entered this place. It seemed like the place locals go and it was packed, they still managed to get a table for us. This place can get very busy and the service is very slow, however the people serving you are pretty friendly and the food is top notch. I am not sure what I should advice, should you be going on an empty stomach, because the portions are quite huge, but if you are hungry you wouldn't want to wait for your food to arrive a good 20 mins after ordering ?. Your call. The food is totally worth the wait.

“Authentic Danish Dinner - Cute ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Went to a conference recently and, based on the reviews, we went for dinner here. It was a great time! Service was a bit slow, but we were also very talkative, and I think they didn't want to interrupt us. They had English menus available which helps for those of us not yet adept at Danish. Plus, they let you reserve online, which is nice for travellers who like to plan (though I am sure we would have been fine without).

The food was great, and there was a lot of it. Even so, we had the Pancakes for dessert - delish! It was our favourite meal out in Kobenhavn. If you want the Danish experience, pay them a visit!
