“Intense Molecular Gastronomy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

As a hugh fan of Thai cuisine, I could not resist to book an evening at Kiin Kiin after reading earlier reviews on TA. I'm glad to report that this was one of the best meals I have ever had! Be ready to be taken on a gastronomic journey as you travel along the 8 course meal, plus the multitude of appetisers that are not listed. Expect to spend 4-5 hours there, so go early as we the last to leave with a 7 pm reservation. From dish to dish, our oral senses taken to the extremes, sometimes in the same dish or even the same bite, and it was almost exhausting.

We chose to wine pairing option, and that was the only downside to the experience. The choice of wines was unimaginative, even as they chose wines from France, Germany, Italy, Australia and Austria, there were too many white wines that were way too sweet and lacked depth, and too similar to each other. One of our friends chose the 3 wine option, that that was better than the paired option.

A very positive aspect that shows the thoroughness of their package was that when I booked, they asked up front to be notified of food allergies so that they can accommodate accordingly.

“Almost overflowing modern thai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014

Kiin Kiin offers a fixed menu, a cheaper and shorter theater menu earlier in the evening, and later the full menu. The full menu starts with aperitifs (drinks not included in the price) and nibbles at the lobby tables and you are presented with about ten different cocktail snack size, delicious foods. After that you go to your actual table to experience the 8 course dinner.
The food is very good, partly delicious. The tastes are often so intense that you would not be able to enjoy a larger portion than you are served. The drinks they suggest are well matched with the food. The whole process from aperitifs to deserts takes well over 3 hours, so be prepared. Even though the portions one by one are small, in the end we were very full. The food is presented beautifully and in innovative ways.
It came to my mind, that at times, maybe there was even too much of attempt for innovation, and a little bit simpler approach would have brought a better result. Also, 19 courses might be a bit exaggeration, even if the first 10 were small snacks.
The service is friendly and attentive, maybe from time to time a little mechanical, which is no wonder with doing the very well orchestrated "show" evening after evening for tens of guests.
In total, a great experience - also not inexpensive, thus only the 4 stars, as at this price, a lot is also expected. And the most surprising thing - after the firework of starters, the main course's plain jasmin rice tastes better than ever, as if all of the show were there only to honor the excellence of the rice, the important staple of half of the world.

“Exciting and so well done”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

Land after a long overseas flight. Take a nap. And get your slightly jetlagged self over to Kiin Kiin to get your vacation in gear. Surprises and superb cooking. Comfort and kindness. Gorgeous presentations. This is a place that knows that pizzazz (like barbeque smoke under a cloche of glass, released as you get a Chaing Mai sausage) only works when the food and flavors are excellent. They're having fun here, as in "ribs" that appear identical but aren't. But they don't forget that it's the greatness of the cooking that comes first, second and third. Loved it.

“3rd time and there will be a fourth, but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

I love this food. Being received in such a lovely manner by the owner himself. This is our third visit and I was really excited what to expect. The food is superb, the tastes, the wines were perfect. We had the "3 good glasses menu". 4 courses with one glass of riesling? And then filling up the glass with red? But! The wines were perfect in taste with the food. The staff is wonderful and the service is relaxed, but this time it was actually too relaxed. I love the humor in the food. I guess that if you want to keep the star you need to sharpen the edges. Take a little better vare of us once we have arrived and bring the first dish ON and you are THERE!

“Very Good but ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

Really Good but:

One of us do not eat fish. We had to tell them severall times
The service is very very long and a clear focus has to be on the organization

Ask for a bottle of water.. The watter will be served in a "generic" carafe used for other tables… I cannot remember the price for the water but it was not free while the water was shared between tables.
Small savings on their side, bad impression for us, this is really surprising for a restaurant of that level. This is why I rank them 3 for the price for money.
Otherwise nothing to say. The Food was excellent.
