We ate here on August 7th (reserved online) to celebrate a major birthday but were sadly disappointed, despite its good reviews. We accepted that there would be no choice for starter and dessert and that both must choose the same dish for the main.
What we did not expect was that each dish would not be individually plated and that every course would be presented tapas style. This is fine for the starter but is downright lazy for the main and dessert and logically removes the need for a chef in the kitchen.
The main "fish stew" (to be shared between two) had one dried-out langoustine as garnish to 2 small pieces of white fish and some very poor quality mussels. The creamed potato was the identical presentation as from the same company’s take-away shop down the road as were the cold french beans and the whole meal gave the impression of good quality formula food (apart from the main which was edible but poor). A nearby diner complained but his replacement chicken dish looked no better. The only other main choice had a £14 supplement and looked like thin cut sirloin steak; certainly not fillet.
The dessert was crème brulée, with chocolate fondant and raspberry sorbet – all with good flavour but once shared onto 2 plates, looked a mess. Three individual portions served on each plate would have looked most attractive and the effect that any decent restaurant aspires to.
Service was indifferent; excessively long waits between courses, plates laid 10 minutes before a course arrived; drinks order forgotten.
With 2 aperitifs and two glasses of wine, our bill came to £96 and while we know that prices in Copenhagen are high, we would love to know where others have dined for a similar amount.
We enjoyed Copenhagen but not this restaurant.
