“Hotel in Copenhagen not far from central station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights without breakfast in November and had a nice, clean, quiet, non-smoker's room facing out to the back on the 6th floor. One bed light was broken, but everything else in the room was in good working order, including the telly. The bathroom, i.e. the shower unit was a bit worn though, and the sewage pipes need refurbishing, since the shower water drains off rather slowly, but one can take that into consideration in view of the nice price for Copenhagen, which can be quite expensive indeed. The location, just a few metres from the central station, is ideal for getting to and from the airport by train and walking into the centre takes about 15 mins if wallking briskly. I found the staff very friendly and helpful, also on the phone. as I got in touch with the hotel before arriving.I would definitely stay in this hotel again if travelling to Copenhagen a second time.

Room Tip: high up, non-smoker, out to the back.

Me and two of my other friends spent totally 2 nights at Richmond Hotel. We booked the hotel via Hotwire a week in advance. The hotel is quite close to Vesterbro, the city centre of copenhagen. It's about 15-20 minutes walk to the high streets. Roughly 5 minutes away to the nearest metro station. There's also a gym next to the hotel too you can have a pop if you are interested. It's around 10 euro for a single session.

Room facilities are at moderate standard. Hair dryer is included in the toilet room so you don't have to worry about bringing your own. You also have TV access but the TV channels are very limited. Wifi network is also provided though don't expect decent connection speed. For a weekend trip this is a good choice to stay.

I booked three nights and paid for instead of two nights in error. Staff are not prepared to listen your grievances, the lady on the desk called Anna is so rude she talks over you when speaking to her, she told me three times that her Manager is in a meeting, at lunch and not available to speak to me. What kind of a hotel is this? This horrible attitude is already happening before I arrive this hotel on 17 November. They don't want to talk to me because they to keep extra night's money of mine for nothing. Looking at the reviews before me, I am scared to stay at this hotel. Plan B, I did book another hotel close. Just in case .....

This is a old but nice hotel.
Nice clean hotel and rooms, good size rooms and nice all round breakfast.
Very helpfull staff.
Parking within 200 meters from hotel, hotel has agreement with indoor car park, for about 150kr day. ( cheap in center Copenhagen )
Walking distance to all the things in center Copenhagen, Tivoli, walking steet ...
Nice / fair room prices

Room Tip: Choose rooms away from street.

For the price (especially given it is Copenhagen) I don't expect the lap of luxury, but at the same time, for a city hotel I do expect it to have amenities listed working.

Internet - no. Non existent. No one in our group could get a 'high speed' connection....or any connection at all for the most part!

The hotel decor team were obviously together when they decorated initially, but lack of touching up means grubby walls and bathrooms make you feel the place is run down.

The staff are efficient and friendly, the lobby bar (read one end of reception) reasonably priced with a simple selection of lager wine or soft drinks....not really a bar, but fine for an evening drink before bed.

Breakfast....disappointing. Unimaginative, dry, cold..... and for anyone wanting eggs and cremated bacon, make sure you are there well before closing as even half an hour before, the dish was somewhat depleted and the contents soggy and cold and absolutely no sign of staff replenishing the contents. Hot water for tea - luke warm. All in all, not worth getting out of bed for tbh.....we had a better brekki on the ferry!!

In room tea and coffee facilities zero ...quite unusual in this day and age!
Allegedly there's room service according to internet description. ..but there is nothing in the room to suggest that. ...no menu, no info, nothing.

The rooms are clean, but again decor scuffs let them down, and the wet room bathroom means once you have had a
shower, you guessed it, whole floor is wet so be careful! The mould in the corners of the shower tiles also does not add to the feel good factor- again, decor needing attention problem.

My room had a balcony, which it transpires is shared with all rooms on that side. ..a little disconcerting when you throw your clothes off ready for a shower only to realise other guests can walk past your window on their cigarette breaks and get an eyeful! Or if you have opened the door for air...they can walk right in! Answer, shut the curtains....black out curtains. ..somewhat depressing to have to do in the daylight!

The walls are paper thin, so I could clearly hear a conversation between my next door neighbour and reception regarding them being unable to get online too......at least I was not alone on that one! Sadly this also meant I was rudely awakened in the early hours by someone else's activities elsewhere....not top of my wish list for a good night's sleep! Other members of our party had rooms overlooking the street on the opppsite side of our corridor - they indicated their sleep was interrupted by noise from the street below...despite all windows being closed.

The bed is comfy enough, the shower warm and wet, there is a flatscreen tv in the room and a few power sockets at the desk.

The hotel is a very short walk into the central shopping street so pretty convenient.

Would I recommend The Richmond? Possibly not for anything more than somewhere to lay your head if you are a heavy sleeper....it is clean but I don't think it really lives up to the price tag. A little attention to sprucing up (repaint walls? remove mould and regrout bathroom tiles in places ?) and a bit more effort made with brekki would make all the difference.

In many places you’ll see this hotel rated with three stars. In my book that’s at least one too many.

Depending on what the purpose of your stay is, your expectations may be higher or lower. If this is just a place to stay in central Copenhagen and “the hotel experience” is not important to you, then you’ll probably be satisfied with what you get.
On the other hand, if you like to take in “the hotel experience”, you are likely to be disappointed.

We got a room facing the inner city yard on the back. That’s not a problem at this hotel, as there is no view to miss and you avoid the street noise. However, there is a gallery on the backside which basically connects all the rooms. While we didn’t experience people running past our windows, we did experience people hanging out to smoke, and yes, we got the smoke into our room. Not very charming.

The bathroom is where the need for restoration is most visible. Cheap interior and run down. The way the bathroom was designed meant you could not use the room without footwear after you took a shower, because there was water all over the floor – and it stayed! The only too visible moisture damage was proof of that.
When we checked out, we mentioned the moisture damage. The girl in the reception acted all baffled by the news and said she would “get a technician to fix it tomorrow”. Fix it tomorrow? You need to fix the whole floor from scratch!?!
You won’t be fixing anything tomorrow and you know it, so stop with the acting and own up to the problem.

If you have read any of my reviews before you will know breakfast is one of the deal breakers for me. If it was only for the breakfast, we would also never return to this place! Uninspired, boring and dry. Dry in the sense that we got a feeling the cucumbers, tomatoes etc. was not freshly cut the same morning. How they even managed to get the boiled eggs dry I’ll never know?
Scrambled eggs and bacon was the usual industrial types even higher standard hotels use these days. It comes pre-coked in a big plastic bag and they just have to re-heat it. In all fairness I will not flunk them on this account, as this unfortunate development seems to be an accepted standard these days.
The bread was somewhat dry on the Saturday. Even more so on the Sunday, and we quickly came to the conclusion that we were eating day(s) old bread. On the Sunday we left most of the food on the plates.

We got a good deal via voucher, but still, not coming back. Once again you get what you pay for, and we would rather pay a little more than coming back here.

Room Tip: Towards the street you may get street noise. Ask for a room as high up as possible. Towards the bac...
