4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

For our 2nd half of our stay in Copenhagen (the part where we weren't being accomodated by my girlfriend's work!) we sought budget accomodation for two nights. We found the Hotel Loeven through the Copenhagen tourist website and as it was probably the best value we could find for two nights we snapped it up.

The hotel itself is set within what seems to be an apartment block. The room itself was large, but with quite a small bathroom and no other facilties other than a fridge (handy though). We were not particularly fussed about no TV as we had a decent wifi connection and were not spending much time in the room other than for sleep. You have to make your own beds (the bedding is supplied) which is something 'new', but again not a problem.

Perfect for our needs, and expected quality for the price (Copenhagen is very expensive).

Excellent central location near the railway station, easy to find when coming to the city by train. 10-minute walk to the city main shopping street, you don't need more than 20-30 min to get on foot to all important sights, only ten to the Tivoli amusement park. The rooms are clean, there's a fridge in the room so you can store your own food since they don't serve breakfast here.
Important: They ask you to settle the bill immediately upon the arrival and this can be done only in Danish money (crowns) if you are paying cash, so make sure you have previously exchanged the money. This may seem rude to some people, but the policy here is that you should feel as in your own home, so once you have settled the bill you'll be given keys and you can come and go as you wish. You'll see the receptionist only upon the arrival, you drop the keys in the box when you leave. Nobody is going to bother you with anything during your stay.

Room Tip: On higher floors there's no Internet service, so if this is important for you, ask for a room on...

We stayed two nights at Hotel Loeven during an Interrail trip. The location was great but a little bit noisy (and the prostitutes on the street made us feel a bit uncomfortable). The staff was very friendly, but was not available from 8 PM to 10 AM. The sheets were left for us to put on. More like a hostel than a hotel but okay.

Hotel has a good loacation. My room was supplied with the minimum of needed amenities. If you're traveling for a couple of days it's ok. Do you still remember having fun at the University dormitory? Main pluses are:
• location 5-7 minutes from Central station
• supermarket 7eleven just across the street
• shared kitchen with microwave and fridge
• WiFi
What can be better
• No oven at the kitchen
• Very basic bathroom

Room Tip: Rooms with private bathroom.

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews of this hotel. No it is not luxury accomodations but meets basic requirements for a good nights stay. It's clean, the beds were comfortable, it's safe, there was hot-water and the staff and friendly and helpful.

We booked a room with a private bathroom but used the shared one after we checked out and I was very impressed at how clean and pleasent it was. I have stayed in many hostels over the years and none of them looked like that!

On another note - we were a bit disapointed by the state of Copenhagen at the moment, there seems to be roadworks, scaffolding and construction happening everywhere! Not so picturesque but I'm sure in a few years when they get everything sorted it will look lovely again!

I have stayed at the Løven hotel for four nights, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised because in the beginning I was a little sceptical due to plenty of negative reviews and complains... However, I experienced something completely different from what a lot of people said about the hotel.

It is a budget hotel, so to say an improved hostel. The main benefits of Løven are the location and very reasonable price! The location is excellent, indeed. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and fresh.

And now, about the owner... I am getting sick to my stomach reading people's reviews about that wonderful woman! Yes, some people may think that she is rude and impolite, but they are wrong... The point is that she, the hotel owner, is a very sarcastic and ironic person, with an amazing sense of humour. And it's pretty much natural that many people who don't understand someone being sarcastic and ironic may think that she or he is "rude" and "unpleasant", From what I experienced, that woman is wonderful and very positive! And best of all, she is very understanding. If you have a problem - just explain it politely. I had some troubles with my credit card and couldn't pay straight away when I arrived but in spite of that, she allowed me to sleep one night so that in the morning I could find an ATM and withdraw cash to pay her!

P. S. If you expect a 5* service, then go to a 5* hotel! ;)

I was very pleased with my recent stay at the Hotel Loeven. The location was great, you are only minutes, walking, from the central train station, several tourist locations, the famous shopping platz, and many bars and restaurants, including the Hard Rock. The hotel sits on the main road, so finding it easy and well secured.
The hotel itself was very nice, you are immediately met by a very friendly and extremely helpful staff and check-in was a breeze. Copenhagen is a pretty expensive city, so it was nice to stay at a hotel that had great rates. The rooms were exceptionally clean and very cozy and my room had it's own bathroom with shower and mini-fridge. The hotel has a shared kitchen area, open at all hours.
Free wifi is also available within the hotel, a great help those with limited or no bandwidth while traveling abroad.
Reading past reviews makes me believe that the owners have listened to their guests. I'll definitely stay here again.
