“Lovely hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

After spending 6 days at the amazing Roskilde festival, we spent the night at the Hotel Alexandra. The staff were friendly & helpful, the location is great, just a short walk from the station, and the room was comfortable & spotless. Lots of interesting touches with the retro Danish furnishings, & the hotel's own newspaper! Only small point was the bed was a bit short for my 6'1" husband. Just the place for a relaxing overnight stay in the beautiful city of Copenhagen - would thoroughly recommend.

On a June 2013 trip to CPH, I passed an enjoyable 4-day stay at the Alexandra Hotel and HC Andersens Boulevard. It's a great small hotel in an ideal central location - close to major sites and the central train station. The location is so optimal that I took the train from the airport to the central station in 15 minutes and walked less than 10 minutes to the hotel.

My room was small, but a nice, clean and effective small. The room had a nicely appointed bathroom, wifi, and a window bringing in lots of daylight.

The reception staff were very helpful, you can rent bicycles inexpensively, and there is a luggage storage room in the basement with access to a shower. The adjoining Japanese restaurant is great!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room.

This hotel is excellent in every way: beautifully designed and maintained, excellent management and services. Thoughtful attention to detail. In addition it is centrally located so easily accessible to everything. Wonderful relaxing peaceful comfortable stay.

Room Tip: We had a room racing the street and slept with the window open without disruption but the interior c...

Stayed three nights at this delightful hotel in great location.
Rooms small but beautifully clean with modern Scandinavian flavour although showers ready for update.
Receptionist staff were amongst the best for friendliness and so helpful. Would recommend this hotel on one condition. The street noise and emergency vehicle sirens continue until early morning and therefore you cannot open window for sleep. Our room came supplied with ear plugs !
A request for rooms away from Hans Christian boulevard is essential.
The location was brilliant for access to Old town, central station and so much more.

A hotel with original Danish design furniture. We stayed during a beautifully sunny week in May. The staff are a delight and have a passion for design.
My bedroom was beautiful, cosy and clean and the bed very comfortable. Not an air-conditioned box, you can actually open the windows! A more homely feel to the place than most hotels.
It is minutes away from the central station, Tivoli, the Tourist information office and the start of Stroget the shopping street.
The Vietnamese restaurant is good value and the food tasty. The hotel offers a voucher to spend there (not breakfast) for each day you opt not to have your room cleaned which is such a great idea. We ate there most nights.
The breakfast buffet is varied with breads, pastries, eggs sausages/bacon, cereal and fruit juices. Treat yourself and order a latte (not included).
A lovely wee gesture was a poster with the forecast for the day in the lift. There is a computer for all residents to use and a locked room to keep your luggage when you've checked out.
We bought a Copenhagen card which covers most tourist sights and unlimited transport so you can enjoy your holiday without worry (available at tourist info).
We are planning to visit Copenhagen next year and will definitely stay here again.

This was a good choice for the night before our cruise. The reception staff was very helpful and we were able to store our luggage before check-in and after check-out. The room was compact but clean and certainly adequate for one night. Location was excellent. It was an easy walk to the Tivoli amusement park and the Stroget pedestrian shopping streets both of which we visited. The breakfast included in our room rate was very good – suggest you make sure it’s included when booking. A gimmick that the hotel pushes is its use of retro Danish furniture in an almost museum like way. We were indifferent to this aspect and it wasn’t a factor in our choice of hotel. We were lucky with the weather and therefore, can’t comment on the negative about this hotel mentioned in other reviews, namely the lack of air conditioning.

Room Tip: Make sure breakfast is included in your room rate.

We selected Hotel Alexandra for its convenient location (quick walk to the train station, Tivoli, etc.) and its value. When we travel, we don't need a large room, fancy view or anything, as we don't spend too much time there, anyway. Most important to us are safety, cleanliness, location, hospitality and value - Hotel Alexandra definitely ticked all those boxes. The room we got was really quite small - we didn't get any of their fancier rooms - but it had everything we needed and was quite well laid out considering the size. The hotel was clean, well furnished in the popular retro Danish style (though perhaps a few things seemed more old than "retro") and the staff were all perfectly professional and helpful. The restaurant on the first floor is good for breakfast or a snack, as well. We had a very good stay here.

2013 Was the year where we brought half of our rooms back to the 50's. We decorated the rooms with furniture, wallpapers, lamps and textiles like the design loving Danes did in the 50's. 2014 Is the time for moving ahead. In early March we ended the renovation of the last rooms and they will be decorated just as the design loving Danes did it in the 60's.
