Owner description: Children's author Hans Christian Andersen, known as H.C. in Denmark, has been immortalized next to Copenhagen's City Hall. He's holding a book and cane and has a well-worn lap from all the children (of all ages) who have sat on his knees.

Easy to miss if you focus only on the square. Tucked around the outside it is a great place to have your picture taken with HCA and feel loke a kid again.

“Lost in the traffic!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

Hans Christian Andersen was such a beloved writer of childrens' fairy tales, but he was also somewhat of an oddball. Perhaps he might have liked where his bronze statue is located—but I don't! The statue is right up against a boulevard (named after him) that is roaring with traffic, and near a lot of construction when I was there. (Mind your children!) He's sitting there looking across at Tivoli Gardens as if he wishes he could be strolling there. He needs to be relocated—perhaps in City Hall Square nearby rather than in this uninspiring location. Rub his worn-down bronze knee for good luck!

“Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

Statue looks good, in a nice location so you are unlikely to miss it next to the impressive town hall, but there was a lot of roadworks around the statue which kind of ruins the photos.

“Great author - boring monument”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Is it just me living here or is the statue of HC Anders misplaced. It is sort of tucked away in a corner on a noisy street. Give the man the credit and place the statue in the middle of the Town Hall Square - in stead of the miserable Peruvians destroying all possible good wibes on the square with their pan flutes.

“Good photo opportunity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013 via mobile

This oversized statue is one of the favorite places to take a picture and move on. The good thing is that it is there to be enjoyed. My daughter climbed on Andersen's knee and we made a sweet photo. If you happen to pass this statue by, go on climb up and sit on his knees, imagine you're little again and he is telling you his stories.
