“Central, cheap but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Copenhagen is expensive hotel wise & with a family this was a cheap option. Some good aspects e.g. proximity to centre & a good value breakfast (this costs extra). However rooms are tiny and are stiflingly hot in warm weather.

We arrived to this hotel by train. It was about four long blocks from the main station. Walking to the hotel felt a bit unsafe because the street lightning was either dimmed down or not working properly. Therefore, when we got to the hotel it was like an oasis! The reception service was good. They have snacks and beverages available by the front desk. An elevator took us to our room. The room looked tiny but designed like a cruise cabin with window and private bathroom. We asked for a double; nevertheless, there was a bunk bed perpendicularly on top of the double. The room had everything with no frills and tiny. The shower had a curtain which personally we dislike. In spite of its size, we had a very good and comfortable sleep.

The breakfast had a cold and hot food; nothing extraordinary. In general, it was very good and well located for the price.

Room Tip: Any room is going to be quiet. Traffic seems low around this area; should underline motor vehicle t...

My partner and I went for a city break for my birthday. My partner booked a double room. However, the room that we were given was a twin, not just any twin a bunk-bed twin. So first impressions wasn't good. We went back to reception to address this and because we were a 'same-sex' couple the receptionist assumed that we booked incorrectly. Apologised and gave us a double room. My point is that if you are a same-sex couple going to stay there, insure to check the room with the receptionist before you go to your room. The hotel itself is roughly 5 minute walk from the Central Station and to the tourist information centre, which is excellent. It's also very close tot he world famous Trivoli Gardens. The rooms themselves are spotlessly clean. The breakfast is a 'help-yourself' continental breakfast which was lovely and for the price of the package was good value for money. Also the free Wifi was fast too which was a bonus. Overall, it is a good hotel, I just think the overall customer service from their reception team could be improved slightly.

You have to set your expectations at the right level when staying at this hotel. "Cabinn", hence the name, means that you have a room basically sized as a cabin in a cruise ship/ferry, with a minimal bathroom. Their slogan is "everything you need to sleep". So, if you want a cheap place to sleep only, with no frills whatsoever, this can be a good choice. If you want luxury comfort and lots of space, this is not a good option.

Pros: good location, short walk from central station. Quiet, quite cheap (for Copenhagen, that is.) Clean, friendly and helpful staff. Free wi-fi.
Cons: the rooms were quite hot in the middle of the summer. AC would be nice... you could open the windows though. The beds could be more comfortable/wider, but were ok. (We had a room with bunk beds and a pull-out bed.) No safe in the room.

As we just needed a place to sleep a couple of nights, this was ok. We never planned to spend much time in the room anyway.

Hint: make sure you specify the number of people staying in the room correctly when booking in order to get the right price, they charge based on room type as well as number of guests.

Literally we couldn't move in our room as the space was so cramped. The shower (also cramped) had very low water pressure and hair had to be re-rinsed in the sink after shower. For my money, over 100 EUR per night not including breakfast this was value for money - though I understand Copenhagen is a bit expensive. The location is fairly good actually, especially as we travelled by train. Would recommend this hotel only to those looking for a place to put their head down, you can't spend any time in the room relaxing as you run out of air.

It may not feel like it should be so budget, but this hotel was certainly a budget option in this very expensive city. Don't expect any frills - like arriving to a made bed, or space to put you luggage in the tiny tiny room - but you will get a decent place to sleep for the price. It's quiet, it's clean and it has an elevator.

Service staff at reception were very good, though found their local knowledge a bit lacking.

Make sure you ask for a fan when you arrive. They don't have air conditioning and the rooms get very warm.

We stayed at the Hotel Cabinn City at the beginning of July during our journey through Europe. The location of the hotel is good, being just a short walk from the central train station and practically right next door to the Tivoli Gardens theme park. The location is a bit of a walk from attractions further north such a Nyhavn but is definitely manageable and extremely easy if you rent a bicycle. There aren't any restaurants in the immediate vicinity but a short walk gives you some options. This hotel is by no means a luxury hotel (at least if you book at the cheapest option as we did) and as many previous reviews have stated the rooms are extremely small. By far the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. But if you plan on getting out and exploring Copenhagen as you should be, it will work. Our room had a double bed and also a bunk on the top. The entire bathroom was the size of some showers, with a half circle shower curtain being the only barrier between the shower and toilet/sink. The room was extremely clean which is always a plus. There is no air conditioning and the rooms will get extremely warm; however, this is easily remedied by opening the window. Some have mentioned that the windows do not open all the way. This is not true, there is a child lock on the windows which needs to be unlatched to open all the way, otherwise the window will only open 2 inches. The wi-fi in the rooms worked extremely well and there was no limit on time using it. There was also a small television with some English channels. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were attracted to this hotel mainly for the price and for the price it worked extremely well for our 4 night stay. My only recommendation is that I would seek alternative options for breakfast than what is offered by the hotel. For the price we did not think it was worth it; however, if you eat a traditional European breakfast often maybe it will work for you. Also, there is a laundromat within walking distance that the staff can direct you too if you are on a long trip such as we are. Baisikeli is a good bike rental option that is a short walk south of the hotel.
