The museum was noted on the tourist maps but as we hadn't really heard of Thorvaldsen, it was not on our agenda. However, when we visited the Christiansborg Palace, we came across this museum. What a find it was!
The museum is laid out very well which gives an insight to the man's work, as well as his personal collection of objets d'art, coins, etc from all over the world. Many of the sculptures are original but there are many copies of scuptures that he did, where the originals are in place all around Europe. Thorvaldsen's grave is in the central open-air courtyard. Very much an attraction that should go onto a tourist agenda.
