“Nice ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2015

I stayed here for business as it was the closest hotel to the venue. To my pleasant surprise I got upgraded to a suite as the hotel was fully booked. The room was really nice, the bed comfortable and the shower good, too. The only negative thing I felt is that you can smell cigarettes from 5.45 am on. The breakfast is very basic but the staff really friendly. I think it was ok in total.

We stayed here in August 2014, the hotel is located within walking distance to Copenhagen main centre. The room was quite nice and the staff were pleasant. The only problem we had was our room was on the 1st floor directly above the bar, as it was summer and really quite warm we had to sleep with the window open due to no air conditioning or fan. This allowed the noise from downstairs and the smoke from all the smokers into the room.

Room Tip: request a room away from the front.

We didn't have big expectations from Amager during our 2 nights stay in Copenhagen, especially after reading some of the other reviews.

But once we got there, we had a nice surprise. From the outside, the hotel doesn't look like your typical hotel, and once you find yourself in the hallway, the old looking elevator and the corridors give you a spooky feeling. But it was clean and ok kept and the woman that greeted us - at close to midnight time when we finally arrived! - was friendly, smiling and very helpful. The same goes for the ones at the reception in the morning.

The room was big enough for 4 adults - with 2 single comfortable beds, an extendable sofa - this one big for 2 adults - and another camp bed in addition. We could easily move around between our luggage, the beds, an armchair, a tv stand and a small wardrobe (and by small i mean we could only put in out jackets and jeans - it's rather good for 2 people). The tv was an old model - and we couldn't even figure out how to turn it on, but we were in Copenhagen to visit not to stay indoors and watch tv. We had free wi-fi, given the access from the reception.

We had clean sheets on all the beds, clean towels - even if there weren't enough for each 4 of us. The Bathroom was small - thou the shower stall was spacier, but little space to move between the toilet and the sink. Even if it was old looking, it was clean and taken care of. It made a strange noise at times, probably from the ventilation, but after a while it settled down - it wasn't actually a bother.

We even had a small balcony we could go outside onto - with a view over a back courtyard. The room gave you a feeling of privacy, a small "welcome to Copenhagen" message.

The location is ok. It's a safe neighborhood - we had no trouble walking from the train station to the Hotel (and trust me, it was a long walk, in a rainy and somewhat cold night),it's a straight street. But it's accessible by bus - the bus station is right in front of the hotel or across from it, depends on the bus no. There are 24 hours supermarkets opened nearby, like 5 min walk. We didn't try the bar and restaurant, so can't say anything about it. Main attractions are close by, and it's actually a pleasurable walk from the hotel.

One thing we didn't really like- we left our luggage in storage for a few hours so we could visit some more, and we thought there would be some luggage storage room. But instead we left them at the reception area - which is a small open area, even if it had the reception staff there, and this does leave you with a sense of insecurity about your bag and what might happen with it while you're out.

All in all, it was a good stay in Hotel Amager, it was worth the money we payed and it really was a nice surprise.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for two nights. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. Everything you would expect from a good two star hotel, is what you get. Having that in mind, we were very happy with our room: it was clean, the beds were comfortable and the radiator was very effective. The shower had plenty of hot water and it was powerful. Amagerbro metro station is only a 5-min walk from the hotel. M2 metro line from the airport stops there, after a 20-min journey. There is also a bus service from the airport, which stops outside the hotel (the ticket price is the same as the metro fare). The city centre (City Hall) is within walking distance (around 20-30 mins, depending on your pace) and Christianshavn is only a 10-min walk away. There are also bus and metro line services to the city centre, but we didn't use them. The hotel offered the best value for money we could find in the really beautiful, but rather expensive, city of Copenhagen. We would stay there again.

The hotel is well situated for transport to/from the airport and the city centre. The price is competitive in expensive Copenhagen. We did not have breakfast as it looked uninspiring and the choices were poor. Worst issue was the bed; we asked for a double room but got two single beds pushed together. The mattresses were the thickness of a summer duvet so the comfort was awful and my partner suffered from backache in the mornings. The bathroom was dirty in places too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back as those at the front overlook a very busy road.

as we didn't meet any bed bugs we found that accomodation satisfactory. 1 night in Amager costed much less than a disgusting Generator hostel CPH that stolen from my card 502 DKK for 1 night for the cancellation of the confusing booking and didn't provide any service. Amager receptionists were friendly and even provided some tea for free in the evening for us. thanks guys!!!

Room Tip: ask for the rooms at upper floors

This is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying in. I awoke my first night to itchiness, turned the light on and saw bugs feasting on my skin, as well as blood spots on the wall (I obviously had not been the first victim). We went to reception who told us we couldn't move as the hotel was full. We moved out the next morning. It is noisy and the decor is a bit tragic.
