“Good value, bad mood reception”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012 via mobile

First thing you have to know, they dont have a kitchen, they say you can bring your own food but they dont let you prepare a sandwish in their kitchen or leave it in their refrigirator.

They have a bizarre rule they invent: you can not drink alcohool that you buy outside the hostel, you have to pay 30kns (more then 5 euros) for a pint of their beer, you can not buy for 3,50kns on the supermarket and bring, you have to pay almost 10 times more!!!!

We spend more then 1 day without hot water and its snowing now, can you imagine a winter in Copenhagen without hot water??

The girl in the reception is very unpolite, rude and in bad mood, she try to make things more difficult.

i dont recommend this place, i would prefere pay more for a better treatment.

The room was clean and big. I had my own locker and you don't need a lock pad. Big showers and clean. Located in a nice area in a walking distance to the centre. Kind staff.
I've spent there only one night because the second time I was in Copenhagen I didn't book in time and it was full, but I'll definitely come back.

Fantastically helpful staff, I extended my stay and although there was only one room available the staff arranged it so that I did not have to change rooms half way through my trip.

Hostel itself is clan and comfy, good location as you can walk to own, however, no kitchen.

I would return.

Nice, chilled communial areas!

This hostel was the exact opposite from the City Public Hostel, where we stayed our first night. We spent three nights in Sleep in Heaven, and it was, literally like sleeping in heaven - for the backpackers that we are ;)

The building itself is neat and tidy, and our dorms were organised in such way that, despite its containing sth like 16 beds, because of the low wall separations between groups of beds, it gave some sense of privacy, with only really 4 beds clustered together at a time.
The bathrooms were ok, clean and with a system of "Free stuff" like the one you usually find in hostel kitchen. I was so happy to find half a bottle of conditioner that had been left in the free stuff basket ! :D
The location was a quiet, rather residential area, slightly outside the city centre, but really, it took us 20minutes to walk to the main square, and at least we could sleep at night without having the noise of the traffic disturbing us. The area was really quiet and safe, so that we even managed to find our way back to it on our first night there, staggering back from a quite intense pub crawl :p (and we were two girls dressed for a night out, that would not have been possible with something close to the station for instance).

The only real drawback really is the lack of kitchen. We were on a budget so we always made our own sandwiches for lunch, and cooked for dinner, but there, we had to improvise with no fridge and no cooking facilities (well, we had our camping stove, but we couldnt use that in the room, could we ;) ). A real shame, cos otherwise this would have been just the perfect place for Copenhagen. Oh, did I also mention the fact that it was the cheapest hostel on the list when we booked it, and that's the reason why we chose it? :D (For information,we booked 3 months in advance). And one last thing, the hostel also had a strong character: the sheep is its mascot and feature heavily in the decoration, while the communal area was lit by garlands of lights that made it really cosy. A really lovely place!

We were a group of four and had booked a room as such with bunk beds. The room was clean and tidy. We were given key cards on arrival and the card also opened our safe. We had read earlier reviews and thus traveled with our own linen. The room even had a nice long window with sort of a-view. The bathroom facilities were not separate for the men and women which came as a surprise for us from the middle-east. But this was the case with most of Copenhagen as it was the same with the restrooms at the train station.
The hostel was a bit of a walk from the 'Forum' metro station but it was still doable. With one of those free bikes that you can pick up from any of the cycle stands within the city it shouldn't be a problem once you check-in.
We loved our stay there. The breakfast was not what we expected though. I would suggest you just pick up something from a nearby 7eleven instead. But the staff were helpful and the lobby was surprisingly cool. Perfect place to meet some fellow travelers and bond.

Room Tip: Get up early and use the showers if you want a clean shower cubicle.

'Sleep in Heaven' must be someone's 'in-joke'.

The layout of the beds and the cramped conditions does make you feel that you have been locked up in some sort of desolate prison.

There was nowhere to leave belongings safely, therefore ended up sleeping with passport and possessions under my pillow.

Would not recommend.
