Not a value for money hotel. The location is good and the looks and interior are nice. But the single room only had one small single bed, which was unpleasant.
The room was slightly dated, but clean. Breakfast was good.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

The Kong Frederik is a classic older hotel with modern amenities, including nicely renovated baths, high quality beds and well-functioning Wi-Fi, a bit skimpy on lighting. It is well-located, easy walking distance from the Tivoli Gardens, major museums and the railroad station. The lobby areas are un-renovated but nicely furnished and comfortable. The desk service is spotty. 10-15 minute waits to speak with the (usually single) attendant are not uncommon. Wake up calls may or may not be made. If you are on the street side it can be noisy even at midnight or later. Maid service is fine. We didn't try the Italian restaurant on premises but it usually seemed busy in an area where there are many restaurants.

Room Tip: Rooms not overlooking the street are probably quieter.

We stayed here for 2 nights and upon entering the lobby we were pleasantly surprised. It was warm, inviting and our room was nice. Our bathroom, however left a lot to be desired. Our shower screen stopped 5 inches short of the bath flooding the floor every time we showered and the bath was what I can only describe as a half bath spread across a 2 tier step which meant a balancing act when negotiating the stepping space. Though my husband and I saw the funny side we did ask to move rooms and this was sorted very quickly for us.

The location of this hotel is fab, barely 100m from the shopping street of Stroget and the same from the entrance of Tivoli gardens.

The restaurant onsite is what seemed to be a very popular Italian and though we didn't try it the restaurant was busy day and night.

To conclude, not deserving of 4 stars but location makes up for it.

This hotel should not be a 4-star. Room are very small and the bathroom so small you have to crawl over the toilet to get into the bath.
Freezing cold in the room and in the restaurant.
It was not possible to get real coffee or espresso, so despite the restaurant is called "The Italian" you can only drink 'dirty water' for the otherwise fine breakfast.
Nice location but still to me this is bad value for the price.

This hotel does not in any way represent a four star hotel. No ventilation in the room or in the hotel at all really. In november it feels like summer inside, hot and claustrophobic. The service is terrible and the housekeeping even worse. We had an upgraded room and paid extra for nothing. There are two positive aspects with this hotel, the location and the breakfast(which was quite good) For your own good, find another hotel.

Price was fair for Copenhagen, which is not a cheap city anyways. The hotel is pretty nice and centrally located, walking distance from many things - otherwise bus/subway connection is not far.
Rooms are not big but clean and comfortable.
I've had bad experiences with breakfast in the Nordics, this one is fine to me.
This was a business trip but my wife was with me for 1 night. I will go again

Stayed here for 3 nights in October.
Unfortunately, only one lift was working and it didnt go to the top floor - which inevitably was where our room was. Also our room seemed to overlook the street and a noisy/bar nightclub so it wasn't that quiet at night.
There were some nice touches about the hotel- eg the couple of free beers in the minibar- but without a bottle opener in the room, it took the shine off it.
The staff were pleasant enough but it did seem a bit of a soulless hotel. the location is the best bit about the hotel as it was very central in Copenhagen. It also needed a good clean/refurbishment as well as it was looking worn in places.
