“A better hotel close to the train station in the hotel district”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013 via mobile

This average hotel in cph's hotel district is conveniently located close to the train station. The rooms are spacius and clean and the service is excellent. All together a good experience with no surprises either way.

The hotel is close to the station but also within walking distance of the National Museum and the Glyptotek (plus the Tivoli Gardens if you're there when this is open; we weren't). Several useful bus routes also have stops within 5 minutes walk if you're going further afield - you can easily pick up a free map that shows the bus routes. Although there were a couple of 'gentlemen's' establishments close by, we didn't see any dubious characters on the streets - maybe it was just too cold!!

The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was also spacious - always a plus. Breakfast was fine, not the most exciting in the world, but plentiful. However the bread was very fresh and delicious and the coffee good.

Even though we weren't self-catering we really enjoyed a visit to the excellent food market which had a fabulous array of fresh food - Torvehallerne, near Norreport station - take the S-Tog 2 stops. The Workers Museum is also in this area.

We arrived in icy weather and it was so nice not to have to search for the hotel .Location excellent .We wer three and room was lovely and spacious. No noise and red light area was not at all offending as other people reported. We never saw anything untasteful .Breakfast was so good and staff was very friendly .Coffee machine is the best.

The locatation is ideal for those who arrive by train from the airport; just couple of hundred meters from the station. Rooms are spacious and nicely furnished. Breakfast was good but they should do something to this breakfast room - as it looks quite unappealing and has seen its best days.

Go in eyes wide open its near the station so road noise is expected, great room, brilliant staff will bend over backwards to help you, great breakfast buffet is more than enough just expect a cold buffet only. Good strong fast wifi, two mins walk to station. Watch out for streetwalkers and adult shops but if you go in expecting this then you will be fine.

Really enjoyed Copenhagen. Why this place is not regarded as one of the best places in Europe to visit,I don't know. Lots to see, lots to do. Brilliant
Checking in at the Du Nord was a pleasurable experience. In fact the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The room was surprisingly large and well laid out as well as spotless. The bathroom was spacious although the hot water had a tendency to have sporadic temperature changes.
Continual breakfast was well presented and enjoyable and we didn't experience the problems of the full restaurant experienced by others, probably as we were early.
The only issues we encountered were those others mentioned regarding being on the edge of the red light district, which on the Saturday night was irritating and the imposing numbers of what appeared to be homeless people jostling for hostel accommodation about 200 metres up the road after 9pm every night.
These disadvantages could be considered to be counteracted by the excellent proximity of the main station and access to key points of interest within the city.
I would highly recommend the city and the hotel.

You would be well forgiven for thinking that some of the hotels in the are look better than the Hotel Du Nord, in fact whilst saying there I looked at the the hotels that were also on offer for comparable prices.

The Nord did look more welcome , the exterior was appealing and the interior clean and reasonably modern the rooms spacious , clean and tidy and whilst not 5* perhaps just a 4* Thet were very comfortable. The Bathroom had a large walk in shower, a heated floor and modern furniture , the shower head was lime scaled which cleaned to get a better power however the temperature was intermittent.

The maid service was very good and I noted the work being checked by a supervisor when I returned to the room .

The location in relation to the main station was perfect however the let downs for the hotel was it was also on the edge of the red light area.

This seemed to encourage those stupid people we all have to bear in life with exhausts on their cars designed to make as much noise as possible, driving around the area cruising.

In addition 500 yds away a centre for the homeless seems to be a focal point for late night drinking and subsequent noise which despite the double glazing cannot fail to keep you awake at times.

The breakfast was continental , the bread was very more ish and the cheeses were really nice, one tip for you though don't get to breakfast around 9am / 10am sat or you might not get a seat . It never fails to amaze me how ignorant people are in this world.

I arrived to breakfast to find every seat was taken so with others stood looking furtive in order to encourage the idiot sat with a newspaper for 30 minutes and the group of Chatting Danish males who had clearly finished eating some time earlier to allow others to dine. In essence the dining room is too small when the hotel is busy.

All in all not a bad stay , a lot of the other Hotels listed are in the same area. If going any time soon wrap up the temps are cold and the wind chill is cutting , regular coffee shops whilst site seeing will help as all the Hotels and bars are well heated.

Watch the prices especially buying a take out Smorgasbord it's cheaper to eat it out though not that much . Some great beers reasonably priced but if buying clothes, gifts, wine , chocs just make allowances that it's more expensive than most European countries

Hope this helps enjoy your trip

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the rear away from the noise of the main road.
