“True 5 star”

Fantastic hotel, best location in Copenhagen and amazing rooms. I stayed in the new wing and although facing a busy part of Copenhagen (bars), there was no noise. Amenities including the one-of-a-kind minibar were superb. Hands down the best 5 star experience I have had in Europe. In addition to the overall great impression, 2 x-factors I would like to mention:
1) the breakfast. Had scramble with truffles and leek (I think) which was absolutely outlandish.
2) My room was not ready upon arrival. I made a note in the review when checking out and was contacted shortly after by the hotel director who apologized, explained and offered me a free upgrade and a bottle of champagne on my next visit. He didn't have to do that, it shows great customer focus.

Wonderful updated hotel with all the amenities you could ask for. We were with Family and had two rooms. Room 511 was superb from the layout , to the furnishings, to the view. Room 318 inferior; no view, small by comparison to #511. Bathroom was nice but impossible to use shower without spraying the floor; no shower curtain which would have helped. A delightful stay overall and be sure to visit the Champagne Bar. Staff very friendly and most helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for room 511 or similar. Avoid the 300 room numbers...

We had to fly out of Copenhagen after our 2 week tour of Scandinavia so we splurged and spent that last night at the D'Angleterre and we were glad we did. As others have said, the renovation of this historic hotel was first class and it is obviously the talk of the town as 3 different taxi drivers wanted the details. The location is excellent, the main shopping street is right around the corner and Nyhaven is a block or so away. Unfortunately, the plaza in front of the hotel is torn up with construction for a new metro line. Really too bad but it will be nice when that is finished I am sure. We were upgraded to what the Four Seasons would call an Executive Suite with living room, bedroom and one and a half baths. It was superbly decorated and had a great master bath (of course). No view from the suite, but we did not care. Every staff member we came in contact with was very nice, efficient, and caring. And the bar is just great. Finally, we rode up the elevator, after a late night stop at Tivoli Gardens, with a very famous (and friendly) American film star. It was a fun and elegant place to end our trip. If you can afford it, I highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and i stayed here for 2 nights before our Baltic cruise. The hotel had just reopened after a complete refurbishment and it was wonderful. The room we had booked was not the largest i have stayed in but the decor made up for the size.Excellent staff. It was so good we are going back with friends in November for a long weekend

Room Tip: Its all down to the price you pay

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. It was gorgeous and a perfect location. The breakfast buffet was included with our room. That buffet was delicious with so many choices. The staff was fabulous and so helpful. Great hotel.

We were only in Copenhagen for two days, so we decided to try the d'Angleterre because of its history as a grand hotel. The place re-opened last year after extensive renovations, and the result is positively stunning. We were in a deluxe junior corner suite on the fourth floor, with a wrap-around balcony overlooking the square. A previous reviewer complained about the lack of space in the bathroom-- this was certainly not the case for us. A large walk-in closet for two, and a very spacious bathroom with loads of shelf space and cabinets. Another reviewer complained about the noise. We were also overlooking the street (and a major construction project to extend the metro), but the windows were sound-proof, and when we closed them we couldn't hear a thing from outside. The service was excellent: the members of the staff seem to take great pride in working there, and they were highly responsive and attentive. When our breakfast arrived to our room 30 minutes late, they immediately took it off the bill-- we did not even ask. In addition, the Balthazar bar made some perfect cocktails, and dinner at Marschal was superb, with an excellent wine list, and very innovative cuisine: well worth the Michelin star. We had not planned to go back to Copenhagen any time soon, but we will now build it into our next trip to Scandinavia just to stay here again.

This hotel is in a very old building but recently upgraded and they did a great job. The design is minimalist Scandinavian class and chic. Cool and understated. Rooms are excellent and we were upgraded to jr suite with small balcony which was great. Bathroom was well appointed. Bang and olafson tv was nice. Staff was excellent and friendly. Spa was very nice. Hotel was perfect location. One negative is very large construction project next door so if you spend much time in room it may be slightly bothersome.
