“Great location for this buzzy hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Visited and stayed at this modernised shipping warehouse in early February with friends.
We found the staff extremely helpful, the rooms a little small but with great views
over the harbour. The location of this hotel is excellent for visiting all the major attractions or
just to pick up the city tour bus that luckily stops just outside. This hotel has great character
and has been modernised sympathetically. The hotel serves a good breakfast with a vast variety.

Room Tip: Ask for a spacious room with harbour views

Stayed in the Admiral Hotel after suggestions from two separate family members who have stayed there in the past. We stayed on the 4th floor facing towards Amalianborg Palace instead of the waterfront. Occasionally there would be royal carriages passing on the road under my bedroom going toward the palace.
Once you walk into the lobby, you're greeted with a nautical theme that is continued on each floor's hallways by the way of model ships and various nautical instruments from the past. The desk staff were very courteous even with the lobby area being full and would help you get your bearings or suggest things to possibly go see if you asked.
The location of the hotel is near Nyhavn and is in easy walking distance of the Kongens Nytorv subway and just down the street by about 10 mins. walk is the Little Mermaid statue.
The rooms all vary slightly from each other and the one that I had was a double with two beds, a small sofa, chair, teak coffee table, a writing desk and a satellite tv.
The water pressure in the shower/tub was very good and didn't take long at all to get to a comfortable temperature. There was free internet available though you had to re-enter your information every 24 hours to use the service.
The only trouble with the room were the wooden beams that came down in one area. You had to remember to duck under them in the middle of the night or suffer a bumped head which happened occasionally in the dark.
The Admiral is a good hotel in a good part of Copenhagen to have as a base to explore. There are a lot of comparable hotels in the area around it though I think I would return here the next time I visit.

We stayed here the end of March, I liked the idea of it being an old warehouse and it did have some cool beamed ceilings but it felt like it was partitioned off very cheaply. The rooms were decent and the service was good but just nothing special. It was in a good location, we walked most everywhere from here. Denmark is very expensive so it was probably a good price for what we got but for the price in most other cities we would have been in a luxury hotel and there was nothing really special about this one.

We are regular guests and because of their hospitality, the still improving restaurant and is situated in the vicinity of the opera and in adition has a wonderful view to the harbour on the west side, we have decided that this is our hotel in Copenhagen.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the harbour

My always no 1 choice in Copenhagen. Old maritime warehouse turned into a beautiful hotel. Autister tight on the harbour front, with old wooden scooners and yachts in front. 2 mins Wall to Nyhavn, 5 mins to Royal Theatre, shopping, salling street Strøget etc.

If you can live with trilling your suitcase to your room without a piccolo, you wont find it better. Ver good value for money also. Enjoy the stay, as I have always done.

Stayed here for a long weekend in March.

The rooms were nice enough. Clean and spacious but the walls were a bit on the thin side and we could hear the adjacents room's television. Our room view inland and onto a contruction site which started making disturbing noises at 5am on the Monday ! This was the last morning of our stay so didn't make too much of a fuss.
Room service was prompt and we when we asked for non-feather pillows and an ironing boarding the were brought up dilligently.

We had breakfast in the hotel every morning and it was fantastic. It is set up in a buffet fashion and you can eat all you want. This was perfect for us and allowed us to fuel up for the busy sightseeing day ahead. The price of the breakfast may appear to be high but it alligned with what you would expect in the city. I would recommend anyone to do a similar tactic and use the buffet to ensure you are suitably full for the day.

Had drinks at the bar one night - decent cocktail list and a small selection of beers on draft. Atmosphere was pleasant and wasn't too busy.

Hotel advertises free wifi although we could never get a signal in our room.

One of the best thing about the hotel is the location....right next to the harbour area where there are loads of restaurants and bars. When we visited at the end of March it was bitterly cold so opted not to sit out at the restaurants but will be great in warmer seasons. Also a short walk to the little mermaid and the shopping district.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the harbour.

An interesting building in a great location close to the royal palace and beside stop for tour bus. Very friendly, helpful staff who provided useful information about the city. I would stay here again and recommend to a friend.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more   less
