We were desperate for a decent hotel to escape the European winter and needed somewhere close to the Railway station. We paid about AUD$180 through the web site the day before. Arrived early and check-in was easy. Staff very pleasant. Single lift that is not really large enough to service size of hotel. Building seems to have a bit of history. Lobby is quite opulent. Room was a little different to what we expected but clean and plenty of space. We were on the top floor so ceiling was sloped. Given the heavy snow we spent a lot of time indoors so found the room quite cosy although have to agree with other reviews that the corridor was creaky. We used the free internet terminal in the breakfast room several times which was very handy. The location is very close to the railway station and many pubs and restaurants nearby. Breakfast was the real highlight. I don't think we've ever seen so many varieties of meat, cheese and breads for breakfast-along with all the usual breafast items. There seemed to be many Danish couples there from outside of Copenhagen (it was a Sunday morning), which is always a good sign if the locals frequent the hotel. The mostly Russian service staff were very efficient. the hotel allowed us to store our bags until late that night and even use the internet once we had checked out. We enjoyed our stay but given the price some might expect more from the rooms. Would definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Denmark !

“Very Bad Hotel”

Ascot Hotel

We stay in the Ascot during March 2008. I have to say it was the worst Hotel that I have ever stayed in. And I have stayed in some bad places.
2 Adults and 1 child in a room that was no more then 10ft x 8ft.
This is what you expect from most hostels in 2008.
I do not know who gave it 3 stars.

As other people have said it is very noisy (No weather glaze) and we had to leave the TV on at night just to quell the street noise.

The second morning we where there someone had their new BMW thrashed outside the front door.

The hotel is in a great location and the poor staff are very friendly.

Given that everything in Denmark is expensive, this hotel sits in the mid-range pricewise and the rooms are probably not as nice as you would normally expect in other countries for the price. That said, the room was warm and clean and serviced daily. Foyer and breakfast room were modern. Included buffet breakfast was excellent. Staff were helpful and spoke english. Best thing about hotel is its in a pretty good location for train travellers, about 250m from the main station and close to metros as well as being close to Tivoli Gardens and the Stroget. Worst thing is the ridiculously creaky hallways, so ask to stay down the end where no one walks past! Overall, I'd stay here again but ensure I was down the end of the hallway.

“Great staff and room was fine- but noisy”

We stayed both at the Ascot Hotel and the Ascot Apartments while in Europe for a Baltic Cruise with Celebrity. The check in and check for both the apartments and the hotel are the same and I must say the service was first rate. The breakfast, included with our room, was excellent - plenty of choices and, despite large numbers of guests, there was plenty of supply. We first stayed at the Apartments prior to the cruise-- the apartment we booked was just fine with a kitchen, living area and separate bedroom with en suite bath. The bedroom was literally the tiniest I've ever seen-- just wide enough for the full sized bed and about 3 feet at the foot of the bed leading to the bathroom. The bathroom was quite large by European standards and was very comfortable. As far as the tiny bedroom goes, since we just slept in there and had a very large living area it wasn't a problem (except to get out of bed you have to climb down to the foot of the bed. . . no room on the sides of the bed!). The apartments are not air conditioned which was only a problem because, while it was comfortable in the apartment with the windows open, it was REALLY noisy with the windows open. We then stayed in the hotel in a regular hotel room at the end of our cruise. The room was actually just fine with the exception of the aforementioned noise with the windows open for comfort. There was room to walk around the bed in the hotel room and again, the bathroom was bigger than in most European hotels. Both the apartment and the hotel room had flat screen TVs. The location is hard to beat -- we were able to take the train from the airport and walk to the hotel with all of our bags quite easily. Once checked in, we found we were in an ideal location to get whereever we needed to go. I would happily recommend the Ascot Apartments or Ascot Hotel if street noise (with windows open) were not so problematic. If you are not a light sleeper or can request a room/apartment not on the street, this is a great place to stay!
