“Nice view, but”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

The Marrriott Hotel,in Copenhagen is on the edge of a canal with a nice view over that part of the city. It is a typical Marriott which might be anywhere in the world. It was comfortable and clean. My two complaints are that they had an exorbitant charge for WiFi and breakfast, unlike any of the good hotels we stayed in while in Norway. I was also afraid of slipping and hurting myself in the shower.

Room Tip: One side looks over the canal, the other over the main city. Both views are nice.

I first stayed here about eleven years ago and I was happy to be able to return to this wonderful hotel. The location is attractive, right along the river and with an easy walk to the main train station and to Tivoli. The city's pedestrian area is also pretty close. One of the hop-on-hop-off bus lines has a stop right in front of the hotel--very convenient. The hotel's concierge was especially helpful to us in planning our time in Copenhagen and in arranging transportation to the cruise ship after our stay.

Our room was spacious and comfortable. We had four adults in our room but it didn't feel at all crowded. A Marriott hotel is always nice but, even so, I think this is a cut above the others I have stayed in.

There is a charge for WiFi in the room, but it is free on the ground floor (lobby, restaurant, and drinking places) and there is a strong signal there.

Certainly, we'd be very happy to return to this hotel once again on our next trip to Copenhagen.

We were lucky to get a water view room. It was like a big picture of Copenhagen. The weather was beautiful so it was easy just to sit in front of the window and be mesmerized by the view. We had a business dinner while there and the food served was OUTSTANDING. Make sure you rent a bike...the best fun we had while there.

Room Tip: water view

The staff is very very nice... However, up charging for everything isn't good. I know it's Copenhagen, but you could at least provide wifi for all the travelers. I live in Norway- so I know things can be expensive, but this was just crazy. Also- set up of the check in and out was terrible! Firstly, they do not provide a bill under the door on the day of your departure, so you want one you have to go wait in the check in line- so let's hope you do not have a flight to catch! If you want to purchase an item from the hotel market you have to wait in that check in line to either charge it to your room or pay cash. Hotel was way over priced, 170 dKK for wifi for 24 hours (roughly $30), to use the television they had only a small variety of channels. Parking was ridiculous at 270 DKK a day!!! ($50) Tip: there's a parking area across the street that was 75 DKK a day. Do that instead. Also- if you wanted more channels- you could purchase for 170 DKK. Thanks?? Breakfast was astronomical in price also- but there's a really cute bakery right down the road that had a good breakfast. Overall- the hotel is clean and nice. We used points for the stay- so we weren't out much on the cash side, but spent a ton on the up charges.

Room Tip: Pick a side a long the river. You just stare at pavement on the "city" side.

I recently stayed at this hotel and I'm planning on going back. My room had a beautiful view of the water (I forget the name of the body of water) and the service was very good. There may be hotels that are a little bit better located but Copenhagen is sort of small city and most things are within walking distance so I was fine with the location.

Hotel has all the usual amenities. Lobby bar has limited space and gets pretty crowded. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were good. While we had lots of stamina and walked into the down town core to see the sights, it's a healthy and time consuming walk. Not much in the way of services in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Its a captive clientele for them!

Room Tip: Splurge and take a waterfront room. Lots of activity along the shorelines

The hotel was at a good location, not exactly city center, about 10-15 walk from the central train station. The view of the river view room was great (be on a higher floor). The room was very clean and large in size. There are actually two Queen size beds in the room, very rare in Europe. The Lounge offered good drinks and food, but could be crowded in the breakfast hours.

Room Tip: The castle tour bus picked up at the hotel, so you don't need to go to city hall location
