“Nice business hotel with poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

I was there for a conference and I like the hotel despite the poor service we experienced.
Location is nice, deco is trendy and room efficient.
Quality of wifi is not good enough for a business hotel.
It is a pity as the hotel could be a real 5 star which is not !

Some of the people miss the point about staying at Marriott's in Europe and the reviews that go along with them, there are no surprises. I had one of the better stays at this Marriott. The room was large and clean, the bathroom bright. Modern electronics in the room, from the TV to the heating system to the lamps. I had no problems with the internet. It reminded me of a Marriott in the states, and when you travel to as many hotels as I do, this is just what I'm looking for.

I also used the gym, which was adequate. The concierge lounge was good, with some variety to the selection. I only stayed one night this time so I'm not sure it changes from night to night. Also went up for breakfast, and they had the usual spread.

I think the two things I would say are very nice about this place is the view, which the hotel sits on the river, and the location. If you need to take the train, the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the train station. If you want to get into down town, it's a 10 minute walk to the edge of the main street. If you don't mind walking, you can get any where you want to go within the city from here.

I guess one negative about the place is the front desk, it's a bit of a mess while waiting to check in/check out where people can cut in front of you. If they were to fix this, it would have been a better stay.

If you're looking to ease the transition from the U.S. to Europe, this is the place. You will hear almost exclusively English from the guests (and American accents at that) and all of the niceties of home will be there. In fact, this is a REALLY good Marriott, all things considered. Rooms are a nice size, everything is new, and you will feel very comfortable. I stayed on the concierge level and it was quiet and cool as could be-- I slept really well.

Having said that, there are a few negatives that make this Marriott, like many others, good but not great. The concierge desk was very understaffed with limited recommendations for meals if you are able to actually talk to them. There were tons of people, all looking for help, with only one, occasionally two people at the desk. The concierge lounge is way too small for the people who use it and breakfast, which was adequate but not inspired, is identical each day. There are no free computers unless you are on the concierge lounge, and one of those was broken. In fact, wi-fi was down for the hotel a couple of times during my three day stay. The driveway into the hotel is too small, and there was total chaos when I was trying to get a cab to the airport. Finally, the location is not ideal if you're looking to be in the thick of things. It is easily a ten minute walk to the heart of Copenhagen and, while doable, there are other hotels much better located. But the hotel is quiet, reasonably close to Tivoli and the National Museum, and very close to a shopping mall if you forget something (or if the airline loses your luggage, as in my case).

Overall, this is a quality hotel that will make you very comfortable. But as much as I'd love to give this hotel 5 stars, several of the personal touches that make for great hotels weren't there. However, it's solid, will feel very familiar and will make you feel like you're at home.

A great hotel for business and pleasure visits to Copenhagen. Rooms are large with great beds but best of all is the fresh eggs that the chefs will make you for breakfast. The Danish hot dogs are amazing but the Hotel standard Club Sandwich is not what I would expect.

Loved the location. Very close to lots of key sights.
Very clean room.
Front desk staff not eager to help and a little snobby which is something I can't stand!
Very expensive room rates ($550 a night) and then insisting on charging an additional $30 a day for Internet is outrageous!!!! Really! In this day and age internet should be automatically included like toilet paper and towels!

I joined my husband on a business trip and we stayed here. The staff were great, the parking was easy and convenient, the breakfast on the executive floor was good but exactly the same every day. Would've been nice for a little change now and then. The coffee was really good - better than what you get in Marriotts in the US.
The hotel was alive with happy people in the lobby, having drinks and enjoying the hotel. It was nice to have that rather than a quiet and 'serious' lobby.
The view from our room was excellent - looking out over the water into the city. We had some nice sunny days. We did have to fight for that room though because they at first put us in a city view room even though the water view was what we'd booked.
The bed was so good that I slept all night every night. That hasn't been the norm for me lately - really good bed, really good pillows.
The only thing missing was the pool......

We have stayed at this hotel twice now and have not been disappointed. It is clean, the staff if friendly, and the location excellent. The only negative is that you don't feel like you are in Copenhagen (very typical Marriott atmosphere)..until you look out your window and see the gorgeous view of the canal or Tivoli!

Room Tip: lower level rooms pick up a bit of street noise. We could hear it from the 8th floor on our first v...
