“Very good hotel, great customer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

This is my second time at this hotel and I quite like it. Both the Tivoli and the water view are great. The rooms are quiet, the AC is dead silent, the lounge is nice (if you get up to 11) and the gym is very well equipped with free weights and cardio. The hotel is within walking distance to a bunch of the attractions in town.

Additionally, the staff is fantastic. While it may be pricier than other hotels, I believe it's worth it. Overall a nice hotel.

Room Tip: Pick a water view for a nice south-facing treat!

Boutique hotels and hotels that are located within trendy areas in Copenhagen most often can come with some downsides that never quite get those establishments to score of 10. One of these downsides is no doubt related to the old architecture that has a significant impact on the room size (very small) or inconvenient layout of facilities that means that you can bump your head on a sloping ceiling beam or just find it plain difficult to use the bathroom facilities. Well, the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel suffers from none of this and what a pleasure it is to enjoy a modern day standard room size of 36m2 including a well laid and lavish bathroom. The architecture also features large open spaced windows in each room that afford a beautifully clear view of either the water or the city. The rooms are very well appointed, the provided amenities are luxurious and the bed is very comfortable.

Forget the fact that the hotel is not located directly in the centre or adjacent old (trendy) areas. The location on the water is superb and it is really not a bad stroll along the waterfront to wherever you need to go, even if the weather is not quite to your liking. We even strolled to the Royal Theatre one evening all dressed up for a show and we are not that young.

The staff at the hotel are exceptionally friendly and helpful and what a pleasure it is to be greeted by even the room cleaners who are obviously proud to be part of this hotel and eager to make guests feel welcome. The restaurant at the hotel is good and the breakfast offered has significant choice and is sumptuous.

We are obviously not the only people who feel this way about the hotel as the place was packed on the weekend we stayed here and according to the taxi drivers that service this hotel, the place is always busy and therefore very popular.

The only negative I can possibly come up with is that the hotel has not joined the growing trend of offering free internet access, except in the public areas.

Room Tip: Book a room that overlooks the water

Marriott is my second choice in Copenhagen (after Admiral) and I really like it. It is located beautifully on the water, in summertime you can enjoy a cup of coffee from the bar on the boulevard, observing people walking or jogging by. The rooms are large, with a lovely view to the water or to the Copenhagen skyline. Everything works perfectly, nice and clean, the staff very polite and professional, valet parking also working smoothly. But: firstly, the internet. Paying for wifi in a hotel of this class is so… how to call it? old-fashioned? It was normal 5 years ago, but now I consider it a standard service. And what prices! 75 kroner (10 euro ) for an hour – that’s a lot. My data in roaming is cheaper (but not so fast, so I paid). I also expect a bottle of water to be available free of charge, but had to take one from the minibar.

I would still consider these to be minor details. A really unpleasant surprise was the next day downstairs, when I visited toilets on the lobby level. Out of five, three were flooded with water and looked like they had been like that for quite a while. The rest were not flooded, but looked simply filthy or at least very untidy. It was around 11.00. Two hours later, the water on the floor was gone, but the filthy look stayed the same. That should never happen in a hotel like Marriott.

In spite of this unpleasant experience (which I hope was just an accident), I think I will come back there whenever I cannot book Admiral, as all in all it is a really nice and comfortable place.

Hotel was nice and not too far from everything but not in central Copenhagen. Enjoyed the breakfast and the happy hour in the executive lounge which saved us some money. Overall sort of expensive but has the normal Marriott look.

As so many Marriott hotels, the Copenhagen Marriott hotel offers also great service and very nice rooms.
The staff at the front office was kind, but the check-in proces was very slow. Congierge helpful with luggage, city plan, taxi and other usual matters.
The main lobby has a sitting area, a bar, lounge area, outside at waterfront a large terrace.
The hotel room was very spacious, city view om the 9th floor. Two double beds, relax chair, working desk with good chair, sat TV. The bath room had a bath with shower, good amenities, but hair dryer could be better (more power).
The grill restaurant service very nice food, not cheap, and great service of the waiters.

Disadvantage is that only in lobby there's free Wifi and the location to the historical centre takes about 30 mins. walk.

First time in Copenhagen and stayed here with my wife. Great location within walking distance of the train station and city center. Very nice rooms and excellent Concierge Lounge. Our room had a view of the river and the city. Would definitely stay there again. Well worth the price.

Room Tip: Water view room are less noisy.

I don't have anything negative to say about this hotel and we enjoyed our stay, but....there are a few things that people should consider/know before booking. As other reviewers have said, the location is fine - it's fairly central - but it's not quite in the middle of it all and there are several other hotels that are more central. Because of this, we ended up hiring bicycles from the hotel and riding around to see the sights. We had a lot of fun doing this but I thought the bicycles were expensive (about 15 euros per bike per day) for the quality (the tyres were either completely flat or just passable and the locks didn't work properly).

The rooms and overall 'feel' of the hotel are fine but it's very corporate. The breakfast was nice (there was a good selection and the food was tasty) and the staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and don't have anything bad to say, however there's still that 'but...' that comes to mind.
