“Denmark: Copenhagen Marriott Hotel: Our Copenhagen X-Perience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2011

We just came back on Sunday, June 5, 2011. The Copenhagen Marriott Hotel in Denmark was a well kept hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff. It was nice after traveling 10-days at sea on the Norwegian Sun-Baltic Sea Cruise. We were given an upgrade to the Executive Level with a view of the Tivoli Garden side. We also were able to get in our room EARLy, around 10 am. When we arrived in the room our view was awesome overlooking the water. The room had lots of space for your clothes. The bathroom was large and beautiful decorated. We ate dinner at the Midtown Grill - Great steaks, Chops and Seafood and the food was delectable. The lounge chairs outside made it very easy to be entertained by the groovy DJ mix of music, on Saturday night. Overall our x-perience was fantastic and I would definitely come back to this resort again.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade when you arrive...

Copenhagen seems to have become the Mecca of (summer) Baltic cruises. We stayed at the Marriott Copenhagen using (reasonable) Marriott points. It is a superb property. Scrupulously clean and well maintained. Delightful sunny bright rooms, half of which have a great view over the rivers. Ideally located downtown.

If you arrive by plane to CPH for a cruise, take the train to Copenhagen H main station. Dirt cheap relative to taxis, and a mere 12 minutes. Buy ticket as you leave customs, down the escalator to the tracks. 22 minutes between airport trains. Copenhagen H train station is about 4 1/2 blocks from the Marriott. Easy walk with rollaboards. Flat & smooth sidewalks, safe. Might be trickier with larger bags. Plenty of taxis in front of the station if you want one.

Airport has ATM/ABMs just outside customs so get some Danish Kroner. English is one of the language choices on all ATM/ABMs I used.

From the Marriott, do a sightseeing walk along the river behind the Marriott to the Little Mermaid park. If you're on a cruise, you can see your ship from there. It's a 50 minute walk, bridges & parks, but you see a lot of Copenhagen while walking.

Cruise ships arrive/depart Friday. The Marriott lobby is CHAOS with people arriving off cruise 06:00 wanting rooms and people waiting to get on board ship at 15:00. Lobby FULL of people and baggage from 06:00 through mid-afternoon. Concierge lounge a good place to hide and wait if you have Marriott status. Not many folks waiting there. Don't bother asking for late checkout.

If on a cruise, take one of the Marriott shuttles (big buses) to/from the pier. Checking in/out will be a trial but clerks work the waiting lines helping effectively.

All in all, Marriott Copenhagen first class property.

Concierge lounge is average for a concierge lounge - typical Marriott. With the lounge, free food & wine, didn't try the restaurants. Did use the lobby bar and the staff is typically Euro-snooty towards Americans (as an Israeli friend said: American dollars are like Monopoly money now in Europe) but the service, once you "snooted" back and established that New-York-City-esque equilibrium, was good.

Slight downside. There is NOTHING near the Marriott but corporate buildings. Especially at night. Walk back the few blocks to the train station to find places to eat and drink. It's only a few blocks. If you need an ATM/ABM, there's one outside the lobby door, to the right, and just past the next office building in what seems like a "city park" building.

Stayed here for one night in February.
Dropped my luggage off there one day prior to check-in. No problem.
Extremely slow and unfriendly front desk and lobby bar staff, all non-Danish employees.
Nice lobby area. Rooms are big for Danish/European standards. Nice, but a little bland decor. More four than five star.
Expensive restaurant. Very expensive breakfast buffet.
Nice view to the harbor front, not so nice view if you get a room to the opposite side.

Room Tip: Ask for harbor view

I stayed here for a long weekend with my wife and two kids. The hotel was very busy, but we had no problems at all with the service - was as it should be at Marriott. On checkout I spotted that a restaurant bill had been double charged, but it was no problem to have it refunded and I immediately received an apology.

The room was large, very clean, great waterfront view...the only minor complaint is that the beds could have been a little bigger. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel restaurant serves excellent steaks. The bar is also very pleasant (notwithstanding the Scandinavian price levels!). A nice touch at the bar was the barman brought our kids a little pot of cookies.

The hotel is indeed away from the city center, but a pleasant 10 minute walk gets you there.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay and we would/will happily go back.

Fantastic location for this area, I stayed closed to two weeks working in this area. Very nice staff. The club room had delicious food every nite and a view that was very nice. This hotel is within walking distance of all tourist sites Trevi amusement park etc. Great gym ...Dinner at the restaurant Terraneo was wonderful the est VEAL I have ever eaten.

Have stayed here 3 times/month for the last 14 months. This hotel is always full, so they really don't care about guests. The internet is a constant problem--very very unreliable!!!! Constant turnover in reception staff. Very frustrating experience when compared to other European Marriotts and other European hotels of this class. Wish I could say something nice, but I can't.

Over the years I have stayed in many Marriott Hotels and for both work and pleasure and decided it was time I started providing feedback, opinions and views to other TripAdvisor users. Anyway, I have been working in Copenhagen for about 6 months now and have been staying in the Marriott. It's a really great hotel and I really love the location. The rooms are great but like everything else in Copenhagen, somewhat expensive. Nonetheless is one of the best Marriotts I have stayed in. The gym is great but no pool which is not a problem for me. The lounge on the 11th floor is fantastic. Free alcoholic drinks served til 9pm. Nibbles, snacks and desserts served from 5.30pm but savory snacks stop at about 7pm ish. Staff are really friendly in the hotel. The best thing about the hotel is the breakfast. The quality is amazing, one of the best around. Bike hire is possible but will cost you around 150 DKK per day.
