“Overall great hotel for what we needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on a scouting trip to bring a group to Copenhagen in the near future. After staying at this hotel I felt it did not meet my expectations for my group. However, I want to give this hotel some positive kudos because it did help me on my travel exploration of the city. If you need to locate yourself near the train station, Tivoli Gardens or the City Hall, you can't beat this location. I thought the front desk staff was helpful and attentive. Why I won't choose this hotel for my group, is the lobby area is shabby and really needs an update. I also thought the breakfast buffet could have been better and more organized. The room I stayed in was nice though the plumbing in the bathtub did not work. The shower was excellent though! Overall, this is a good hotel and for my recent trip to Copenhagen (because I needed to access the train station quickly and easily) I thought it was a great hotel.

The Palace Hotel is a historic building right next to the Town Hall & conveniently located for all the main sights, which are easily reachable on foot. The train station is also very close by, as is the Tourist Information office.

The hotel has very spacious corridors, apparently designed to allow two ladies in crinolines to pass each each other with ease. But fear not, the rooms are not Victorian, but modern and a decent size. Ours looked onto a not very interesting courtyard but that didn't bother us as we were out most of the time.

Breakfast was a mini-feast & quite delicious, which was just as well, given the price. (Tip: a few metres down nearby Stroget there is a branch of a well-known pastry shop where you can have a decent breakfast if you don't want an elaborate cooked affair). In contrast, you can have a light lunch on the outside terrace for very little (by Copenhagen standards, that is).

The staff were helpful and polite. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting Copenhagen for a few days.

Dirty, dusty, noisy, old! Horrible! Small rooms with glass bath room doors that do not close. There were no hygiene products except for a shampoo and a conditioner and once these were used up we were not given new. Also, we were only given one big towel. There was just one elevator and it was really small, old, smelled bad and slow. Not worth the money! I Stayed at a youth hostel in Copenhagen as a student that was better than this!

The Palace Hotel was perfect for our short stay in Copenhagen. We were able to walk to all the main sights. The room was very clean and comfortable. The historic aspect of the hotel was interesting, beginning with one of the elevators, which had a door. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was really good. We loved the view from the small balcony of our room. In short, the hotel helped make our visit to Copenhagen a very memorable one.

Room Tip: Room with balcony towards the plaza, for the view.

This hotel means so much to me. The history, the building, the staff, the location, i just love it so much. The superior+ rooms are big, clean and has nice decor. I love the bar, it offers many cocktails and nice wines. The only minus might be the parking, but using a car in Copenhagen is just stupid to start with. Breakfast is nice, and so is the service in the breakfast restaurant. A little bit understaffed sometimes maybe. Thank you for another great stay!

Room Tip: rooms facing the town hall square might be a little noise, but they have an exellent view!

We enjoyed a top floor Jr Suite with a small terrace overlooking the Town Hall Square. The view and the location were fantastic. The room was large and modern...we loved it! The location cannot be beat...close to shopping, restaurants, bars, Tivoli Garden, and an easy walk to Nyhavn. The hotel is hip and modern on the interior while maintaining its historic structure on Town Hall Square...a special combination. The front desk prearranged a taxi for us at a fixed rate to the airport on the day before. We checked out at Noon and enjoyed a lovely lunch in the hotel bar/restaurant while passing the time for our 1pm taxi pick up. The food and service were excellent. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Town Hall Square have the best views.

We requested an early check-in upon arrival and got it :). Room was a good size, had a great view of the square and bathroom was clean and spacious (except for the small shelf at the sink which others have mentioned as well - not a significant issue for a one night stay. We were very pleased and thought it a fair value.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the square is desirable.
