Stayed here for 3 nights for a total of $300 including tax with otel.com. I consider this very inexpensive considering the high prices for hotels in Copenhagen. The breakfast had a good variety with different breads, meats, cereal, cheeses, OJ, milk, and coffee. On one day, we were pressed for time and were able to make a sandwich for lunch to take along with us. Staff was extremely helpful with tourist sites and spoke fluent English. Location was just several minutes from Copenhagen Central Station and easy to find. I didn't see any female loiters around the area but in the opposite direction from the hotel, there are sex shops. I am not crazy about shared bathrooms so if I ever came back to Copenhagen, I would definitely stay at this hotel but in the private bathroom section. Rooms were basic and clean, comfy beds, made up each day, plenty of towels.

Stayed for 3 nights from 17th March. On checking in we were given a twin room with 2 single beds in a tiny narrow room.
We changed straight away with little fuss to a double room.

I have to say this hotel is awful, the rooms and bed clothes smelled of stale smoke, we had 2 single beds pushed together with separate bed linen and musty blankets. The decor looked like it had never been changed since the 70's.
Bathroom was tiny and toilet was badly stained. I really didn't feel like touching anything.
Didn't sleep the first night at all due to the noise from other rooms and the hallway. Walls are paper thin and the corridors so narrow I felt like I was on a small boat.
Got ear plugs for the 2nd night which helped things a little but not when the maid hammered on our door at 8.50am for cleaning.
Then she proceeded to have full scale conversation over the noise of the hoover with another maid in the rooms opposite.

Didn't plan to get up early but went straight to breakfast at 9.15 where there were no tables available. The restaurant was absolutely packed and we had to hover continuously around the room hoping to get a free table for at least 15 mins.
Not once did any staff approach us or clear any of the tables in the room. We had to eat on top of others leftovers.

Overall this hotel is horrible, with stale stuffy air, not only in the rooms but in the corridors, didn't see vents anywhere.
I can't see how it is rated a 3* - more like a 1* youth hostel.
My advice - go somewhere else.!!

I booked a room in this hotel thru an agency's website. I was not aware that cheap rate belongs to Annex part of the hotel (which is like hostel). However, I still say the room was great and comfortable! Though bath/toilet was shared, it was manageable for 2 nights! The breakfast was excellent with so much choice! Staffs are helpful and speak English. Location was also convenient - just 10 minutes walk from central station. Recommended.

Stayed at the annex for new year celebratios for 2006. 5 minutes walk from station.Reception staff are very friendly and helpful.10 minutes walk from the pretty Trivoli gardens, and 15 minutes into shopping walkway and bars. The rooms in the annex are very basic, but clean. The communal shower and toilet are kept clean too.42 pound per night for my single room, and that is not too bad for Copenhagen, as this city is very expensive! Expect to pay 4.50 for a pint (if you are lucky!) We visited the square at midnight, and it is fun, but absolute madness!!!!!! people bring their own fireworks, and let them off at will under your feet and across the square!!!! Stay on the outside looking in! dont venture into the middle, we saw people being taken away in an ambulance, and were surprised there wasnt more! The annex of the Absalon, and the hotel itself are close to the red light district and sex shops, but not enough to put you off staying here. We found a gem in the bar beneeth the Thai resteraunt in this area, the host was very welcombing and the atmosphere was pleasant sitting drinking bottles of chang at 3.00 a bottle! ( a bit cheaper than in the centre). All in all a good trip, 1 night is fine if you are working on a budget, and new year celebrations are a must......from a distance!

  • Liked — the price
  • Disliked — basic room and no shower ,not a luxury breakaway, but good price!
  • Tips/Secrets: — Trivoli closes with awesome fireworks on 30th december.Take safety glasses for 31st!

My wife and I stayed here for two night during a backpacking trip across Europe.

The furnishings and decor were quite old and looked like the room has not been updated since 1965. But it was clean, comfortable and suited our needs. There was a sink in the room and even an ancient working TV with rabbit-ear antennae and dial knobs! The coolest feature was outside our window: a red neon sign that reads "HOTEL", just like in an old mystery movie.

The bathroom and showers were down the hall, and all were kept clean and stocked with all-in-one shampoo/soap. The breakfast was actually quite good.

And you can't beat the location. The Absalon is about a 5 minute walk from Copenhagen's Central station, and 10 minutes to Tivoli Gardens. You can walk to the heart of the tourist district in less than 30 minutes. The staff were very friendly and eager to help with directions and maps.

I should mention that even though we were backpacking, we are NOT teenagers or college students. We're in our late 30s! We were definitely among the oldest guests in the Annex. But despite our young neighbors, the hotel was quiet and peaceful. (The main section of the hotel had guests of all ages including seniors and families.)

The best part of this hotel was the price: $63 a night from Orbitz. Copenhagen is NOT cheap. Be prepared for sticker shock. A pint of beer costs the equivalent of $7.50! And I thought London was expensive!.
