“Winter indoors and out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

I stayed in the Scandic Copenhagen in December. It was fairly central. It was only a couple of hundred meters from the railway line so it was very accessible to the airport. The weather was very cold and there was snow on the ground. It was a bit surprising to enter into the white entrance foyer. It was very clean but a bit sterile and cold. Perhaps it is better in the summer. The room was again spotless but it felt cold. The decor consisted of a wall paper city scape in black and white. Cold feeling. The lighting in the room was very subdued which did not help either.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast in the large dining room was very good. Typical continental buffet style and you could go up as often as you like. The room itself was a bit like a large canteen.
I would recommend the hotel if you want something in a chain hotel in the centre of Copenhagen mainly as it was spotlessly clean. It is a stones throw from the Tivoli and just a little bit from the main city centre. About a fifteen minute walk. Copenhagen was wonderful but quite expensive. Makes Ireland seem cheap and that is saying something.
I think if it had not been so cold and grey in December in Copenhagen,I would not have noticed the coldness of the decor. I would stay here again if only for the location and in the summer.

The professional photographs make this place look decent but it is a very tired hotel, breakfast area is dire - seriously bad. Rooms were clean at least and Internet included. Was a last minute trip to Copenhagen so could only do little research on hotels here. Hotel is close to the central station but a good 20 minute walk to main 'happening area' so a bit far away. Would I stay here again? No but one night is doable. Wouldn't stay for longer at all.

the hotel was okay but nothing special. Reception and bar is quite cramped for a large hotel. My room was quite small but served it's purpose. unforgivable was the amount of noise that the elevators produced. I am glad that most people had gone to bed by 1am. When I complained about this in the morning, staff at reception looked rather sheepish.

Hotel has been renovated recently and very modern interior. Had a great room on 13th Floor looking over Copenhagen City with views on the Tivoli Gardens. It was snowing while we were there as well so it really was very magical! Very clean and friendly staff. Wonderful breakfast!

Room Tip: The High rooms have best views either on the lake or the city - spectacular at night.

We so much enjoyed four nights here that we returned for the last night of our trip. The train makes the Scandic was close enough to the airport that we made our 12 noon flight comfortably.
Breakfasts are excellent. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant enough that we ate there twice. A brisk walk to the main station --- if you are on a train stopping at Vesterport then thats even closer.

Room Tip: On the entrance side 5th floor and up you have an excellent and indeed stunning view.

I've actually been avoiding Scandic Copenhagen while in business (believe that there are many other nice-looking places to try, and this hotel was pretty low on my list).

Still, I was surprised. Checking in as 3rd floor (not sure it was because i was a loyal member or not) but was upgraded. Never seen it happen in Scandic. When staying as Gold on Hilton or Concierge in Radison it happens all the time, but first time here.. Also, since there was no in-room menu i decided to go down to the bar to order.. even though there is a room-service charge the girl in the bar told me it was on the house.. Small, caring things, which actually makes you want to stay again ..

Overall serviceminded personnel, good breakfast, clean room, nice (even though pretty strangely layed out) room .. view over Copenhagen was nice !

Would recommend !!

I stayed in this hotel in almost 5 consecutive years and knew almost everyone at the front desk, bar, and the restaurant and I can only recommend this as this is just at a nice lake where you can enjoy it at summer time - make certain that you get at least level 10 up due to the traffic noise.

The hotel has been through a major make-up since I was there the last time in 2006. The entire front desk and restaurant are the major parts that have been upgraded and the rooms only to a certain level. The beds are still quite in poor in condition, but the decoration of the room has been change to better.
