“Great place for a layover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We stayed at the First Hotel Mayfair in June prior to arrival boarding a Baltic Cruise. The hotel is centrally located and we were able to walk to Tivoli, Little Mermaid, the canals and more. Restaurants/bars were within easy walking distance. Price from the airport to the hotel was approximately $25 per person with 6 in the van. The hotel allowed us to check out of the hotel and stored our luggage on Sunday morning prior to going to the ship's port so we were able to continue sightseeing with a great boat ride through the canals. The beds were comfortable with two different pillow types available.

There was one small elevator which we used only when moving our luggage. We were on the third floor and used the stairs otherwise. The free breakfast was good with both hot and cold offerings.

On the downsides, our room was directly across from a "gentlemen's club" so we had noise coming from the establishment all night. Fortunately, we were tired from our trip so it didn't affect us too much. If you book here, request a room away from this alley. Also, many in our party had trouble using their credit cards at the hotel so prepay, use a debit card, travelers checks or cash.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the alley with the "gentlemen's club". Small elevator so may...

2 good points: location and lobby. Our "large" room on the 5th floor showed temperature in the high 90's (35 degrees) when we arrived so we accepted a downgrade, as we were told there is no way to either cool or heat the 5th floor, where the only "large" rooms are situated. Our regular room was very very small and the bathroom a shoebox with no shelves to put toiletries and the room was above the street. So, full light from the hotel wall, hotel and strip club across the street, which gave us a choice to either close windows and curtains and sweat or open all and have noise and light. Rooms facing the courtyard are a bit better noisewise, but not bigger. Bikes are available, but have to be rented 25 $/day each. A 90 minutes check out time extension (the hotel was not full) was to be charged (managed to avoid charges thanks to friendly receptionist). Yes, location is fine, but then, same can be said for most hotels in town. Breakfast buffet OK, but limited choice and very crowded at peak times. We do enjoy "boutique" hotels, but when the word "boutique" applies to the size of the room and the generosity of the owners, we'd prefer to be forewarned...

Dont book the deluxe rooms on floor 5 if its hot outside. No air conditioning. Good breakfast, nothing special. Nice beds. Disgusting floor carpets. Close to vesterbro Central station ströget and meat packing districts

The hotel generally satisfied us except the absence of a refrigerator. The staff were polite and helpful, the room was clean (but a bit small) and free wifi was available. Guests could also use the computer on the reception floor to access internet. Overall, the best of this hotel is its location which is convenient in all aspects.

For a hotel that was only a couple of blocks from the main train station, the room was surprisingly quiet. However, being opposite a strip club was not ideal. Also, the wifi signal in the room was appalling and only worked if I was sitting on the floor by the door. The bathroom was an incredibly tight space considering the rest of the room was quite spacious.

We had booked and paid superior rooms and get standard rooms. We booked and paid a light evening buffet, but we did not get it. Every morning at 4 o´clock it was very loud, so we could not sleep anymore. The staffmanager was very bad.She said, we can look for another hotel, if we are not satisfied.

A Kimpton-esque hotel mere blocks from the Central Railway station and Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Easy walking to touristy areas OR more residential areas (stores, restaurants). Staff are very helpful, and the duvets are divine. The windows open, and I had a nice view of the rooftops from my cozy room on the 5th floor. Sure the single rooms and bathrooms are small, but this is Europe. I didn't feel cramped at all, and the value for the money is great. Taking the train from the airport to the station and then walking the 2-3 blocks to the Mayfair was easy, even when I didn't know a lick of Danish.

Room Tip: I had a room on the top level, backside, which was very quiet. Someone on the street side noted it...
