“Like being in Japan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

I have been to Japan twice and love the native food, so coming to Banzai and having an authentic meal is required between eating at the other Japanese restaurants in Copenhagen that to some degree adapt the menu for the western taste.
The sushi is traditional and very good with large tasty pieces of fish, and they will probably ask you if you want wasabi inside the nigiri or next to.

The atmosphere sets the stage for silent conversation, so if you want a quiet meal and room for enjoying the food then come by Banzai.

“Small autentic Japanece family place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

We have been there several times - mother Akiko in the kitchen father David serves you. It is really authentic food from the Nagoya area - a more spicy food than in the "fine" Kyoto area. And they have not changed it in a Danish direction. We like the food, the place and the "family". We have also used it to demonstrate for friends that Japanese food much more than sushi, tempura, yakitori and sukiyaki.

“good but pricy...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2011

A small couple own Japanese restaurant with decent fresh food, the atmosphere was a bit uptight as the interior design was white wall with a little water fountain feature, very zen.. so i felt like i shouldn't make any noise...
The one thing was that you will have to pay for the rice, it doesn't come with the main courses... which i never experience in a Japanese restaurant.... homemade ice creme was ok but 35kr for one scoop....
one dish should try is the "japanese pizza" although i would call it a pancake :) a very local japanese dish.

“Sumo wrestling and genuine japanese food !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2011

My brother and I had dinner at Banzai and we really enjoyed the surroundings. The restaurant is zen-like harmonic with the sound and sight of running fresh water in the middle of the room. Close to the kitchen the plasma TV is on japanese Sumo Wrestling non stop and its possible to watch from your seat if you want to. Its not too dominant though.
The food is genuine japanese and not just miso soup and alges. A lot of great stir fry is also available. Fx. the funny dish Yakisoba with Bonito ( stir fry noodles with lots of vegetables and japanese tuna, paper-thin slices of fish. It looks like the slices are still alive when the steam from the hot plate rises up. Try it.
