Very helpful and friendly staff. The location is perfect for the city centre (5 minutes from Nørreport Station) and you get a local feeling as well. Very cosy rooms on the top floor, but a bit dark. We will definitely come back.

The hotel was really nice and it couldn't be on a better place in the city, only a few minutes walk to the central shopping street. I felt like I was really welcome to the hotel, and if I asked something about the city from the receptionists, they could always answer. Points for the luggage storage room because we came a few hours before we could check ourselves in but we could leave our luggage at the hotel and go shopping. Same thing when we left because we had to check out at 11am but our flight left in the evening so we didn't have to drag our luggage all day with us. The breakfast didn't include to our reservation and if we would've take it there it would've cost 21 euros/person/day and I think that's way too much. Maybe the breakfast was all fancy and they had everything there but maybe a smaller and a little cheaper breakfast would attract more customers. But the breakfast was only minus for this hotel and at least I was very satisfied with my stay at Ibsens hotel.

Dear guest

We are so glad to learn that you enjoyed your stay at Ibsens Hotel. Thank you for the praise for our staff members. We think we have a really good team spirit at Ibsens Hotel. For us, the most important is that our guests are feeling welcome and that we are really good hosts. But of course, a good location and the atmosphere is also essential.

We don’t want our guests to bother with their luggage, when they are spending a day in the city before leaving. That’s why we have a luggage room available. Regarding the breakfast, we offer a breakfast buffet, because we think it gives our guests most value for money. We have just updated the selection, and now we offer only organic and local produce: sausages, cheese, skyr etc. from a farm estate in the Southern part of Denmark, bread from original Scandinavian cereal sorts to mention some of it. The breakfast will make our guests experience the essence of Danish food culture.

We hope to be welcoming you again!

Kind regards
Marie Thyssen / Ibsens Hotel

Friendly and helpful staff. For Americans, this is a typical European hotel with more efficient use of space than in US, so, e.g. smaller rooms and more efficient bathrooms!

Great location only two blocks from the wonderful Glass Market! Great place for breakfast and snacks. Close to metro and buses. A Mikkeller family of craft beer bars across the street.

Three restarants close to the hotel; an italian, a spanish and a japanese. All exellent!!! Also close to the market hall where you can get a cheaper breakfast. Too little light by the wardrobe in the rooms. Cold bathroom. Plastic glasses. I stayed there two times and will come again.

Having visited Copenhagen before, this time I was looking for a hotel with a more local feel, and found this in the Ibsens hotel. The location was only 3 blocks from the Norreport station where the Metro from the airport stopped so the location was perfect.

Within a few blocks of the hotel I found several great restaurants as well as the Torve Hallerne food market where I enjoyed both morning coffee at Coffee Collective as well as their famous Smoerrebroed open faced sandwiches at Hallerne Smoerrebroed.
The was also a smaller supermarket nearby for food and drink stuff to bring back to the room.

The hotel was a few blocks from Tivoli, but only a short walk from most other points of interest like the Stroeget - pedestrian street, King's Square as well as Nyhavn harbor area.

I could tell that if you arrived during a heat wave, you would have to sleep with windows open and would hear the street noise as the hotel lacked Air Condition however I believe this would
apply to any of the other 3 star hotels and some 4 star hotels in the city.

The noise was not more than you would get in a central location of any other major city.

I can highly recommend the hotel and I am already planning for my return visit.

Most off the larger hotels are near the train station so you would then have train noise to contend with through out the night.

We were extremely pleased with the accommodations at the Ibsen Hotel. My wife and I arrived at 10am and they were able to check us into our room. The room was perfect and very large. We were on the 6th floor. The room had 4 windows which let the sunlight and the cool breeze in. We had a sitting area on one side of the room and a writing desk on the other side. The bathroom was very roomy. The bed was VERY comfortable. The room was very clean. The staff including housekeeping were extremely friendly, they treated us like family. This is a gem in Copenhgan. Whenever my travels includes a stop in Copenhagen, I will stay at the Ibsen Hotel again.

Room Tip: Book the large room

We had a one of the large rooms and it was fine, but no more than that. There was a weird smell in the room, sort of like sweaty laundry. Maybe it came from the carpet?

You could hear the noise from the street, but I guess that's something you have to live with when you stay at such a central hotel.

The reception staff was super friendly and we enjoyed the "cosy hour", where we had a glass of red wine for free.

Dear guest

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. You are completely right when pointing out that staying in the center of the city will inevitable entail some noise from the surroundings. People who are very sensitive to noise may be better suited choosing a hotel situated outside away from the center.

Some weeks ago we a torrential rain in Copenhagen and a part of the buildings in the city experienced flooding. Also at Ibsens Hotel we had water problems. We are almost over and done, except from a few parts in the cellar, which are still being renovated.

Kind regards
Marie /Ibsens Hotel
