I travel regularly to Copenhagen on business, and am a Scandic frequent guest, so the location and style of this hotel are appealing.
I've always found the staff and common areas to be excellent - and the breakfast, in common with other Scandic properties in the city, also. The design of the rooms appeals to me, and the location, right on the edge of Nyhavn and Kongens Nytorv, is an excellent base for evenings out around town.
However, there have been some poor experiences lately.
The design of the bathroom is quirky, with the floor formed of smooth pebbles set in concrete. It looks great, but is hard to clean. In the last couple of rooms I've had, this has been obvious - the concrete, particularly around the drain, attracts rust and mould. There have also been drainage issues, with the bathroom flooding, not only from the shower, but also from the sink. I can understand some wear and tear happens over time, but the whole bathroom looked cleaned very hurriedly, and in need of a good going-over. There is, in warm weather, a slightly musty drainage smell in the bathrooms too, although this is not unusual in properties around the older parts of the city.
There have also been some problems with small details and maintenance. For example, having arrived at a room for a week's stay to find only two coat hangers in the wardrobe, it took three requests, followed by a visit to the reception desk, to resolve. The handheld shower heads are cheap, and the hose often separates. If you ask for a repair, it gets stuffed back in, only to come out again with the slightest bit of water pressure.
The corridors are in a poor state as well - scuffed and dated. This is a minor complaint, as the rooms and common areas are find, but a little effort would help with the overall impression of the place.
It's a shame about the inconsistency, but a lot of the cleaning smacks of complacency. And for a hotel in this price range, that really shouldn't be the case.

Thank you for taking the time giving us feedback on your experiences with us. I am sorry to learn that your later stays have been with a declining experience.
There is no excuse for a poor cleaning experience in the bathroom or that there is a lack of clothe hangers and that the front desk is unable to sort this out on your first request.
I will make sure to deal with this and the other things mentioned immediately and I hope that you accept my apology for these incidents.
We will make an effort to make sure that future stays will be back to earlier experiences.
