“Value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

Simple hotel at reasonable price, especially for the location. But there are better possibilities in Copenhagen when you book early. The room on the 4th floor was very small and had an even smaller bathroom. Asked for a quiet room so I could leave the window open since they do not have airco and the gave me a quite one, really nice reception. Supercentral, 2 minutes walk from the main station and with Tivoli park just two Streets ahead. The restaurant is good (not excellent) but to expensive. There are many better restaurants in the neighborhood at better prices. Use Tripadvisor for this and you will not end up in their Frascati restaurant! Everywhere in the hotel fre wifi, but not very stable.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

First of all, the location is perfect! Close to Tivoli, Centralstation and the famous shoppingsreet Stroget. BUT the hotel itself is old in a non-charming way... Actually, it's a bit dirty and the cleaning is not well done. The breakfast is alright, everything you need is there but not top notch for a "luxury" hotel... One good thing, the service is good and the staff is very helpful!

Right next door to the train station which is convenient, but our room was just getting to the shabby point. Needs upgrading. Once upon a time she was a grand dame, but no more. No air conditioning meant we needed to open the window. We were on the first floor so there was a LOT of street noise all night and pub that played loud music into the early morning hours. Our reservation did not include the breakfast so opted not eat their pricey buffet breakfast. Dinner at their restaurant Frascati was excellent.(after Oslo prices didn't seem too bad)

We decided to stay here to celebrate my other half's 40th Birthday so as it was a special occassion we decided to pay that bit extra for what we thought would be a nice hotel, well what a disappointment, we arrived and got our room which for the money we spent was the smallest double room in the world, the bathroom was extremely dated and the smell was awful coming from the drain, we then spoke to reception who assured us they would sort it out so we went out for the day thinking it would be sorted out on our return however this was not the case and the smell was still awful so off we went again to reception with more assurances that they would sort it out, however after going out again next day and returning to find nothing had changed we insisted on being moved to another room, this was done and to be fair they upgraded us to a junior suite, however when we entered this room we were shocked to find the double bed was two shoddy singles pushed together with singe duvet covers ?!?!? and also the bathroom was no better so clearly they have a plumbing issue in the hotel that needs sorting as soon as possible.

When we were leaving as well the customer service at reception on check out was shocking, as is customary when leaving a hotel you are given a bill and then pay for your stay, much to our dismay we were told that we would get the bill once we had paid not beforehand, the team of women on reception were sour faced and extremely unhelpful and with the problems that had gone on throughout the trip due to the rooms I would have thought they would have at least mentioned this and perhaps offered some sort of apology etc.

Breakfast is ok and edible nothing spectacular, the hotel location is good right next to Copenhagen Central train station but thats about all really that its good for, a shame really for what we spent for the stay.

It is a nice hotel however it needs some refreshing. It simply feels, smells and looks old. Rooms are small, however it is comfortable. They are usually equipped with a tea/coffe set and ironing desk but there is no minibar. You can get some beverages / snacks from the vending machine. The breakfast is good, similar to other hotels from Arp-hansen group. Staff is nice and helpful. The big advantage of this hotel is location as it is placed next to the Copenhagen H central station so it is very easy and quick to move around the city. It is also close to all central attractions like Tivoli, Glyptotek and others. There are lots of restaurants nearby so there are plenty of dining options however the hotel's restaurant Frascati is fine (a bit overpriced).

Room Tip: The corner rooms are very spacious (2 times more than a regular room) and simply are better in gener...

This is an historic hotel. A grand old dame.. Luxury? No. There is no aircon but that didn't bother us in May but in heat it would be a problem. No tea coffee making or fridge and strange configurations such as tiny shower locked into a very small closet sized room with a door and the basin and toilet in another closet sized room. Beds were single pushed together with separate single doonas. They were comfortable though. There is no safe but you can have valuables locked away at reception.
Having said all this we certainly enjoyed our stay!
Because of the age of the hotel it would have been a hard building to renovate and keep its historic appeal. But appeal it certainly has.. especially in the public areas. The breakfast was served in a nice, bright room and we loved the variety of food offered.
The position of hotel was wonderful for us to get to the train station for our onward journey to Amsterdam after our cruise from Copenhagen.
Most of what we wanted to see and do was within walking distance and the boat tours and hop on hop off bus took us to other interesting sights. A good assortment of cafes and little supermarkets were nearby. There was even a Planet Hollywood!
I have to say the staff at the hotel were excellent! Nothing was a trouble. They helped with bags, arranged a taxi to take us to our cruise ship and remembered us on our return two weeks later.
We would be very happy stay here again. But if you want the "Marriot" etc experience rather than an interesting very old historic hotel to stay in, this is not for you.

Room Tip: We had a room on a side lane with a pleasant view. It was quiet.

Dear Geraldine

Thank you for choosing to stay with us back in May, on your journey all the way from Australia.

I am very glad to hear that you enjoyed the historic appeal of our hotel, and also that you enjoyed our popular breakfast buffet.

I am indeed pleased to hear that you found our level of service excellent! Our team of staff has been working together for many years.

We look forward to welcome you back the next time you are visiting Copenhagen!

Only one advantage- location for Tivoli
All disadvantages:
- no air conditioning, noisy street, so impossible to sleep with windows open; it was 30+ degrees those days
- we travelled with a child and they gave room just above the entrance- additional noise, smoking , etc. when asked to changed, they were impolite and didn't even tried to help- unfriendly staff
- very average furbishing; very uncompfortable beds;
- for 4 * hitel you expect- minibar or at least a bar; gym and hopefully a swimming pool- none of it
- service: when checking out they doubled the invoice, used somebody else's Mastercard as we were prepaid by agency. When we said it's a mistake, tey said oh it's a small mistake, sorry. Basically, they would have charged money from somebody else creadit card, so therefore no security withh credit card deposit.

Please don't stay there for that money. I'd agree with 2* service for Grand..

Room Tip: I dont think there a any. Take another hotel:-)
