“Not up to standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Not good experience. The carpet in the corridor has not been cleaned for a long time, full of dirty spots. Toilet not clean, and hair in the zinc. Double-bed is only a one and a half bed, and cover is only for a single bed. The quality of windows so low, that the noise from passing trains made it impossible to sleep. Staff in reception kind, though not professionals.

The only place in town that had rooms and I am not surprised! This is a truly awful hotel with tiny rooms, no facilities in room, the building shakes every time a train passes and a wake up call at 05:45 when the first train runs. It claims to be a 3 star but even 2 star is being generous. The wifi is super slow. It could maybe be a nice place if you don't want to sleep and don't mind a 4m x 4m room

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs

This is a hotel with a very convenient location if you have to use the public transportation system in Copenhagen area. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and the breakfast is good. It is a basic hotel and a little bit worn down but not to a point where it becomes a problem.

Ok, so many people complain about the noise from the rail tracks. for us it wasn't a problem at all. We manged to get a decent sleep and the noise wasn't very annoying despite the fact that we got a room on a floor in the basement. but i understand that it might be a big deal for light sleepers!
The location of the hotel is really good. you just need to cross the road to get to the train station. There are some shops and cafes which is very convinient. Btw if you don't have coins and want to buy a train ticket, go to the 7 eleven (or something like that) store. They sell the train tickets too! Coming back to the location - The Little Mermaid and Kastellet are like 10-15 min away. Other attractions are a bit farther but at walkable distance!
The hotel room was outdated - old furniture, old bed throw. Wasn't particularly clean either! Dust on the lamps, tv etc. Bad smell coming from the toilet + the bathroom could be refurbished as well. The toilet itself looked pretty disgusting...

Overall, it's an ok hotel if you need good transport connections and don't want to pay a total fortune. However, cleanliness and decor could be improved!

Checked in on 10th April for 3 nights, asked for a room away from rail lines due to reviews and was advised had been allocated a rail side refurbished room. Room was excellent, one of the most comfy beds I've stayed in at a hotel. Even though by the rail line very little noise can be heard, therefore wouldn't let it dissuade anyone from staying here. Breakfast provided was ok also and lots to choose from. Cheap stay and highly recommended.

I read a few reviews here before going, but as usual I mainly like to make my own choices as I often feel that people are expecting way too much for their money.

For me the good outweighs the bad – that is why I have chosen “Very Good” – I would have chosen “Good” if it was an option.

The Good:

1. Perfect location – one reviewer mention you have to change to get the train to the airport – WRONG. There is a direct train OR you can change and get the Metro.
2. The room and hotel was clean. I disagree that the hotel smelled (lobby and rooms) – this is not the case at all.
3. The hotel was £25.00 PPPN – amazing value for the location.
4. SO close to the Little Mermaid – one of if not the biggest attraction.
5. SO close to the train station – wasted so little of my holiday time because I could go right out to the train – it’s not THAT loud – yes it is audible but by no means kept me awake.
6. Unlike some reviewers I found the shower to be lovely – setting to regulate to a perfect 38 degrees. So many budget hotels I have struggled to get a constant temp – not here.
7. A good point for me is that the hotel had no restaurant – it’s a place to sleep - the food in Copenhagen is beautiful and you can find some perfect food at reasonable prices. I highly recommend Dalle Valle (Not the Buffet). After 5pm if you buy a drink (2 cocktails for 100DDK) then the a la carte menu is ½ price. Me and my boyfriend got 2 cocktails and a steak dinner for £11.50.
8. As with most of the people in Copenhagen the English spoken by the hotel staff was amazing and so helpful.

The Bad (but remember this is a very cheap hotel):

1. There is no safe (ideally I wanted one) but I left cash, iPad etc in my room – none of it was taken.
2. There was no control of the luggage room – again maybe they’re very trusting
3. There is no fridge – not a big deal in my opinion but FYI for the those who want to know.
4. My biggest issue – I booked a double room and the bed had a single duvet – this was silly. There was another in the cupboard but 2 single duvets on a double bed is really stupid.

Overall - amazing value for money – amazing location. If you are a REALLY light sleeper then perhaps don’t book here but they do provide earplugs.

Look at it on google maps before you book – don’t complain about train noise – they don’t hide that it is next to a train station!

Room Tip: If you want VFM, are a heavy sleeper and want to be close to centre then book!!!

Thank you very much for your review. We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us.

We do actually have safes, just not in the room but in the lobby. The luggage room are equipped with a camara in case something happens.

We hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back.

It's not so easy to find such a price for the room with double bed and private bathroom in Copenhagen. And you can if you choose Hotel Østerport. But ask for a non-trackside facing room because the railway tracks are just beside of the hotel. You will get a good ratio of price and comfort. In addition the location of hotel is its advantage: smooth transition from airport, metro is across the road, enough quiet area to have a rest after a day of walk in the city.

Room Tip: Rooms are quieter on the opposite side of the railways :)
