“Real danish food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013 via mobile

It was suggested by a friend that lives in Copenhagen, good atmosphere of an old danish restaurant, the traditional open sandwich in many of its various recipes.
You are supposed to drink different tiny glasses of snaps while eating, but who can stand all that alcohol?
Tried many variations on smorebrot theme, with many kind of fish, meat and vegetables. One suggestion: be carefull with harengs, they seems harmless, but they are very hard to digest.

“Outstanding - but book ahead!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Classic, traditional Danish lunch. Sublime herring dishes. Interesting drinks. Perfect service. Cosy & tasteful decor. Pricey, maybe, but not considering the quality.

“Very good - very expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

Lunch and "smørrebrød" is in great quality and service is good. You need 2 times smørrebrød pr. Person, inkl. 1 Beer it's almost 40 euro pr. Person = expensive for lunch. If you have money enough definstly try it for lunch !!

“THE restaurant to have Danish lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

In my opinion, Schoennemann is the standard by which all other traditional lunch places in Denmark is measured. Having eaten at several such, this is by far the best place.

What sets this restaurant apart from the rest is the dedication to uncompromising quality and craftmanship in the making of the traditional part of the menu and the creative approach to new parts with a twist.

The only problem is choosing, as only the very hungry are able to eat more than two servings. Try the local ale and sample the "snaps"-selection which, too, is unrivalled.

Reserve a table well in advance, especially if you're a group! They only take reservations by phone.
