This beautiful church is not one of those monuments that stands idle: it's a place of worship and as such, I felt a bit awkward about gawking at it inside and out because it gave me a very definite feeling of reverence and respect. It's not the just the architecture that impressed me, but the tranquil atmosphere. It wasn't like one of those spooky, Catholic churches with tons of gold, elaborate baroque detailing, icons and statues of the Pieta or the crucified Christ so I felt completely at peace.
It was the perfect place for a pause to drink in the stillness before resuming my hectic tourist schedule.
