Tivoli is an amusement park, so naturally there is loads and loads of entertainment. But what really astonished me was the atmosphere - all the beautiful buildings and stages, the beauty of the park itself with trees, ponds, and flower beds, and as a simple example; they have a little tea house. A small but not insignificant proof that here, the experience is is not all about instant food and indulgence for the kids.
Speaking of food, the variety and selection is simply amazing! Everything from the standard fast food to real gourmet restaurants (where you better book in advance). We enjoyed a high class meal at one of the Nimb restos (Brasserie), and it was absolutely superb and the setting very elegant and relaxing. I also thought the prices very reasonable given the quality.
Since we visited during off-season the crowds weren't too bad, with the exception of the line for "Himmelskibet / The Star Flyer" which took a ridiculous 45 mins. This was due to a very inefficient organisation of the loading /offloading of passengers.
As for the amusements: allegedly "Rutschebanen" is the 3rd oldest operating rollercoaster in the world, how cool is that! And yes, it's fun too. I didn't have the time to explore so much, but I really loved the Demon and the Star Flyer when we eventually got on it. They operated it on low speed due to strong winds on our visit, but that was almost a relief...
All in all a lot of fun and a very enjoyable visit, in a park tending very well to both grownups and kids.
