“Nice hotel when travelling with children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

Nice, fairly new hotel. Not the biggest hotel room (familiy room), but more than adequate as we did not spend too much time in the room. Breakfast ok, although tend to be a bit crowded around 9 (late June). Bonus with swimming pool, gym and playing room. Maximum 15 minute walking distance to Tivoli, as well as buses leavng just outside the hotel.
Tip: they have one of the best sushi restaurants in Copenhagen on the top floor, but be sure to book well in advance of arrival if you want to have dinner there.

This hotel is in a Great location only 15 minutes walk (1.3km) from the station with luggage so it's very convenient. It's about 4.5km walk from here to the little mermaid. So it's close enough to the sights to walk everywhere. The rooms are small but good and they have excellent sound proofing. With the family deal you can sleep 4 to a room with a max of 2 over 18 provided that you will share a bed with one kid as there is only room for the double bed plus a cot. We took the package with the included breakfast. The huge buffet breakfast is fantastic with great variety. Cooked bacon and eggs, herring, cheeses and cold meats, pastries, cereal, fruit ( and great dried fruits). You can also request gluten free bread and lactose free milk if you ask your server. There was a conference room set up as a family room with table football, air hockey, table tennis and a bouncy castle. There is a good swimming pool in the basement with a sauna. And a permanent play room. They do have a new part of the hotel under construction but did a great job of making sure that this did not affect the guests. Overall a really good location.

We stayed for 4 nights with 2 kids in the family room. The room itself was a bit compact but opening the windows gave the room some fresh air and breathing space.
The bathroom amenities was very limited so prepare to bring your own essentials especially if you are travelling with family. One small tube of shower gel for a family of 4 doesn't last.

We ate at the Brasserie twice as the hotel location was a bit out of the way from the city centre. Yes, it is about a 10-15 min walk but with 2 little kids, its sometimes best to stay put. The Brasserie staff were friendly and attentive and made the kids feel welcomed. Its a shame we couldn't say the same about the Sticks n Sushi staff as we made what we thought was reservations through the hotel phone system but apparently it didn't get through to the Sushi restaurant, So when we arrived on the 12th floor and mentioned our booking (which they couldn't find), we were basically ignored along with some other customers as they were fully booked out and busy. They didn't even offer us to be placed on the waiting list as okay, mistakes happen or suggest take-away as we informed them we were hotel guests. In the end, we left along with other customers as the staff simply walked away.

I felt this really let the hotel down as the Brasserie staff were excellent along with the breakfast staff. The reception staff were a mixed bag, some tended to ignore you avoiding eye contact whilst some were really helpful and friendly.

The hotel itself is also a mixed bag as it is geared towards conferences with wide open spaces with that conference feel but is also very child friendly with many play areas for kids to play- go figure?
They did have a great summer kids program running during our stay and the kids loved the games room, jumping castle, heated pool and outdoor playground.

The 11A bus right outside the hotel makes a loop into town and is handy as it can get very windy esp if you are carrying luggage. it also make a stop outside the Central station if you are coming in by train. The concierge sells tickets but its cheaper to buy them on board the bus with the coin-only machine which has English options. During our stay, the bus fare on board was 26Kr whilst the hotel sold the standard prepay fare of 30Kr ánd kids under 12 travel for free.

There is also a shopping centre with a supermarket and general stores 5-8 mins walk from the hotel which is visible from the hotel (towards the flyover).

Overall, some more consistency in terms of spatial configuration and service would have made the stay more worthwhile.

Dear Callmon,

Thank you for the extensive review of Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center. I am sorry that you felt a lack of consistency here at the hotel. I acknowledge your opinion and we will bear the comments in mind for future improvements.
However, I would like to say that I am sorry to hear that you didn’t ask for more toiletries at the reception desk. Of course there should be shampoo and soap for everyone in a room and if there wasn’t enough for everyone in your room it was a mistake. Please never hesitate to call the reception staff if you need anything in your room. If we don’t know you are unsatisfied, we don’t have a chance to help you.
As for the bus tickets I have to inform you that the tickets we sell are two-ride tickets (DKK 30) and the tickets you can buy in the bus are single ride tickets (DKK 26), which makes it much cheaper to buy it at the Concierge desk. We don’t have any commissions on these tickets, we offer them as a service for our guests.

I hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you and your family again next time you visit Copenhagen.

Yours sincerely,

Jakob Ellermann

A nice hotel in the city center of Copenhagen. Walking distance to Tivoli. The rooms are nice and the service level of the staff is high. Breakfast offers a large variety of foods. The best is the restaurant on the top floor, Sticks 'n' Sushi.

Have been half living in this hotel (3 nights per week) for over a year. Its staff really makes it be more than a place to sleep for business trip or conference.
It is international high professional standards, but should you ask or give real interaction with reception and service staff, you will find a very nice and human team at every stage of the hotel.
I felt this at the concierge first, but have found all team members dedicated to making the stay beyond business trip.
For instance, I twisted my ankle last week, and got big (really big) bag of ice to limit the swelling within a minute almost without asking. Got another bag of ice in the middle of the night within minutes, and even the person apologized for taking so long, While I had found it really quick.
I really like the place and the people there.
First time I am on a so long business trip, but it really makes me glad to stay in a hotel.
Facilities are great, and my family really enjoys joining. They like the pool in particular.

I stayed at the Hotel Tivoli, Copenhagen for one night as part of a business trip to Denmark at the beginning of June. I checked in at about 18h00, after a business day at a company in the city. The hotel is about a 10 minute casual walk from the Tivoli Gardens and train station but If you're coming straight from Kastrup airport, it's about 15-20 minute taxi ride so not too far. Check in/out is very efficient, there are normally several staff present to aid you, this was the same whenever I visited the reception area. I was offered a room upgrade at check in but declined the offer which was rather expensive. The hotel is themed on Tivoli Gardens with the use of lots of colour and it's light and airy inside - quite agreeable. It's just 5 minutes walk from a sister hotel called the Wakeup. This is a down market budget hotel which I've also used when money has been a little tight. Both hotels seem to be part of the same group.

I was given a standard room - it's design was typical for this part of Europe, lots of wood used to make it feel comfortable - that helped because the room wasn't large, it was well equipped though and had a reasonable view - so no complaints. The bar was ok for a casual drink but beware ! My colleague asked for some peanuts to go with his beer and was charged for them. most hotels I've used for business or pleasure don't do that :(

The restaurant was very good, both for breakfast and evening meal though more than a touch expensive! The entrance to the restaurant has a Tivoli feel since you pass though some crazy mirrors to get there - an amusing touch!

There were other amenities but I didn't get a chance to use those.

Overall, a nice hotel to stay in and I would use it again and recommend it to anybody.

I stayed at the Tivoli for 2 or 3 nights after a cruise around the Baltic. We had booked a different hotel, but when we got there had problems with the reservations and -long story short- ended up in the Tivoli. Keep in mind the Tivoli is more a business hotel than a tourists one.

First of all, the service was impeccable at the front desk so we were happy with high expectations. When we got to our room floor we realized all three elevators (next to each other) are in one side of the floor while our rooms were at the end of a several long hallways so we had to walk a lot with our luggage in order to get to the room. Once in the room, it was tiny and the bed was very uncomfortable. Maybe it's just I am used to the comfortable American mattresses, but also each of us only got ONE pillow!

The decor supposedly was inspired in the Tivoli Park (after we went to the park noticed somethings were similar like the fabrics, etc), but it really looked like a. Holliday Inn in the 90s with spooky "paintings". The room service is ridiculously expensive, although the Asian food was delicious. The location is not bad but is not the best.

If I ever go back to Copenhagen, I will not stay at the Tivoli. However, because the service was very good, the location is not bad, the room was clean, I am giving it 3 stars.
