“Very functional, a bit impersonal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

I lived in the wakeup for 5 night during a conference. The room was on the 7th floor. As a result I payed a higher price ("sky room"). But the view was nothing special on the contrary. Not worth it. The room was small but functional. There is no wardrobe, so I had to keep my clothes folded in my luggage, which was inconvenient.

The bathroom was tiny. Beware large people, you won't be able to fit in the shower. The only bathroom goodies were a block of soap and a sort of body/shower gel in a paper container.

The breakfast is quite poor. No real fruit juice, a coffee machine, and a couple of salami/ham plus boiled eggs for savoury. No pastry.

There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel.

Internet was fairly fast, which was important for me.

Location of this hotel is not so bad, it is 7-10 mins walk from Central Station and Tivoli.

But this is a hostel NOT a hotel as it has:
1) no proper pillow (inside the pillow, you could only find a lump of cotton fluff, irregular shape)
2) no proper blanket (its size is smaller than the bed)
3) no phone
4) no boiler
5) no fridge
6) no toothbrush/toothpaste
7) no safety box in the room
8) no adaptor lending service (adaptor costs 75 DKK)
9) no slippers (also no towel for the floor in the "bathroom")
10) no free storage of luggage before 3pm the check in time and 11am the check out time

What it has as amentities are
a) a foam cup (yes, a disposable foam cup that you get as the morning coffee),
b) a kecup size sacket of body & shampoo,
c) a small towel and a bath towel.
And, they are not automatically replaced unless you ask/ indicate (but there is no instructions or note telling you that).

Cleanliness is the main problem - bathroom were not cleaned at all though I have told the front desk twice out of my 8 days of stay (insect dead bodies, toilet bowl not clean, towels missing, hair at the bathroom drain not picked up, touch buttons of the toilet and switches of the taps not cleaned, of course, the glass door has watermarks that you left there everyday). But, please do not expect any apology because front desk even questioned if you have put the towels on the floor to indicate you wanted them to be replaced or you have the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign been put up. And, be ready for the rolling eyes from the front desk staff too.

My advice:
1) If you have to pay 900 to 1400 DKK a night like I have done in this case, please think twice. What it has been well known is being "CHEAP" place to stay!
2) If you are travelling for business, be prepared for the above and not to get your spirit spoiled.
3) If you are taller than 160cm, you may find the bed and room too small for you.

PS:
1) Big size paid lockers are full easily. Front desk will advise you walking to Central station.
2) Two small ironing boards and irons are located with the lockers, you have to iron almost in the corridor and it is very dark there
3) you could also hear the trains in the morning and loud music on Friday and Saturday nights though it claims their rooms are sound proof
4) Breakfast is fresh though it is the same very day and fresh fruits are out fairly soon. You need to buy coupon from front desk and cannot make payment there. (70 DKK)

No soul, no service, no location! The girl at the front desk was nice to deal with. Everything else is average. The rooms are small, no minibar. No bar anywhere; not even in the vicinity of the hotel.

Room Tip: It's in the middle of nowhere!

I spent few nights in this hotel and I can't complain about anything. The room was tiny, but very well designed. It looks good, and it's comfortable. It's situated very close to city center, just few hundred meters from Central Station.

Its an OK low budget hotel with a matching, non included, breakfast, just that it isnt. its not budget, but you get budget. Small rooms, bad breakfast and a noisy railroad outside. It is walking distance to city center, but there are better for the same price more centrally located.

We have just returned from an overnight stay at WakeUp Copenhagen.
It was ideally situated a short walk from central Station and Tivoli Gardens and there was a great, regular bus service (no 11A) from the hotel in to central Copenhagen.
The staff on reception were friendly and efficient - we were able to check in early to our rooms. We had 2 adjoining rooms which worked very well as there were 4 of us. Whilst not huge, the rooms were very well designed, clean and the bathroom was lovely. We were at the back of the hotel which was quiet overnight.
We would stay here again and recommend it anyone wanting an overnight stay in Copenhagen at a reasonable price.
