“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

You'll enjoy your lunch, appreciating the sun in the outside garden of the restaurant. Staff is very kind. All the dishes are well presented and the food is great.

“fine facade, less satisfactory content”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

David's is relatively new. The interior decor and the reception speaks of a kind of upmarket, ambitious modern brasserie. It is small and the back-garden tables are even smaller - so this is really a place for a quick bite, or a cafe and cake, rather then for a full meal. There is a lack of balance between the number of tables and size of the kitchen - resulting in longer than pleasant waiting times if you are four and order something that has to be cooked.
The dishes are served in a way that wants to look attractive but this is not always practical: for example, a side salad arriving in a narrow cup reminded me of the fable where the stork invites the fox for lunch... The plate presentation is made using industrial ingredients, and the food is adequate but no more. The interior promised more and different. The place - at least in summer - is busy, but this does not mean that all is well there - not for the visitor after quality.
BTW Stege as the biggest "town" on the holiday island of Møn is not a testament to Denmark's merchant spirit. Given the number of people passing through, there has been pretty little in terms of shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. This has started to change... slowly. I hope it will keep changing, maybe a bit faster, please?

“Best lunch in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

We live nearby and have visited David's several times. Recommended is the selection of tapas, where you get tastes of most of the lunch menu. A bit more pricey than your normal lunch, but the quality of the servings is also on a high level. For a more traditional (and cheaper) lunch, the sandwiches are very nice as well.

Especially in the tourist season the place is open evenings (mainly weekends). For evenings and the most popular lunch days, it is a good idea to make reservations ahead.

“Modern Danish Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2012

Smørrebrød is the tradional dansh lunch. Take them and combine it as tapas and you have a very delicious lunch. Two variations with 4 or 5 small but still solid meals like salmon roulette, trout mousse, veal steak and chees. Eveneings only friday and saturday with nice fixed menus
