“It was all about children!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2009

We enjoyed every minute as the staff is very friendly & never stops smiling! Food was excellent and as usually the problem with children is, that they do not eat - in Legoland the selection of different choises is very large. Room was nice and clean. Also what is big advantage, is the possibility of going back to your room as much as you like - no big bags to drag around in amusement park. Hotel has large play area for kids and regardless the running and playing children all around the hotel, inside our room it was very quiet.
We will be going back ... :)

The hotel itself is nice enough. The rooms are unique and well furnished for families, they are a bit small by US standards but probably average size by European standards. The staff is acceptably friendly, I certainly would not say the offer a warm welcome but they are fine. I think the fact that they apparently will not let anyone check-in until 3 PM regardless of room availability is sort of petty. They indicate that they will watch you bags if you can't get to your room but what they will actually do is direct you to an unlocked and unsupervised room where you can put your bags on a rack while you are out waiting for a room or enjoying the park. They don't take the bags there, they just tell you where the room is and the room has a very conspicuous sign indicating that you are storing your stuff at your own risk.

The biggest issue I have with this hotel is the food. They offer a buffet for breakfast and dinner. The food is reasonable and the food selection for kids is great, but the dinner buffet costs a family of three close to $100 including one drink per person. A dinner buffet for $100 seems more than a little excessive when the selections include roast beef, turkey and hot dogs. I mean we are not talking about filet mignon here, it's roast turkey with gravy. A beer is $9 and they have one choice, Royal. I know Denmark is expensive but these guys are really sticking it to guests. The breakfast buffet that is included with the room is good, but certainly not great by European standards, I would say it was the third best when compared to three typical hotels we stayed at in Scandinavia.

Legoland as a theme park is a nice family experience, but its onsite hotel is a big laugh. We paid over 300 euro per night for what they advertised as a family room. In reality, is was a very small (18 m2), dusty and somehow shabby room, with a truly Spartan bathroom, that one could best classify as two star. For sure, the kids loved the Lego amenities, but that can't be an excuse for the pricing. We found the staff at the hotel all but friendly or service-oriented. We saw hardly anyone smiling. Breakfast was a complete mess - you pick up all yourself, including the knives and forks, something you can expect in a youth hostel, but not in a hotel that dares to charge a premium price. Buffet dinner was not too bad, although again ridicoulously priced. Expect to pay 8 euro for a mediocre glass of wine. Find a better hotel in the region, buy your kiids a box of lego, visit a proper restaurant, and still you will save 50 % of the Legoland Hotel price.

Went Aug 2008 with Child age 6
Stopped in Legoland hotel which you will find on hotel@legoland.dk We loved the hotel it was just fab for the 3 of us the rooms were very ikea style the hotel was great and really couldnt do enough for us the whole of our stay - loved the breakfast and our son really enjoyed the very large tubs of lego almost everywhere you could walk and figures built from the moment you walked into the hotel.. There was a pool which you asked at the reception for the voucher and you walked accross the car park - the pool was really good big sauna and jacuzzi also the pool had a side and loads of inflatable toys to amuse little ones.
Legoland - having been to the one at windsor nr London - yes it was a bit smaller but much better to get around as there was no steep hills to climb - the rides were really good and not long to wait in a queue which for August I was really impressed with.
Billund town was nothing much to see a couple of super markets and very thin on resurants we ate in the hotel which had more than enough to choose from.
Would I recomend it - yes but stay in Legoland hotel if more that 2 kids check if the allocated room size would be big enough.
Travelled out using budget airline from Birmingham airport - got great price as booked in advance, hotel has a shuttle service to use and no trouble to locate.

Fantastic package deal included family room, 2 days entrance to Legoland ,dinner and breakfast. Excellent value. Room clean and well presented including lego goodies for the children. We considered the hotel stay important to our overall Legoland experience. Breakfast superb - too many choices. Staff helpful and friendly. Also free internet access to check your emails etc.

The only real negatives were conference delegates noisy into the night and the 3pm Check in.

  • Liked — Its proximity to Legoland Park and the free goodies for the kids.
  • Disliked — Noisy conference delegates.

It took a very long time to get my room when I arrived, and they kept telling me they had until 3pm to get my room ready. They knew I had just flown overnight and hadn't slept yet, but they didn't seem to care.
I walked around the hotel and it was old, run down and not very clean. It looked like someone just took a old hotel and threw in some Lego bricks! The restaurant had TONS of flies all over the place. It was gross, and when I said something the woman just looked at me.
The last night of my stay I moved to Hotel Propellen, and it was great compared to Hotel Legoland. If you visit Billund, don't waste your time at Hotel Legoland!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2008

We stayed at the Legoland Hotel for one night at the end of June 2008. Our party consisted of two adults and one nine year old girl. The staff was wonderful from beginning to end. Very friendly and wonderful with children. My daughter entered their many contests that they offer for the kids that stay there and she ended up winning a large Lego plane kit. That was definitely the highlight of the stay there. Our room had a double or queen size bed, plus bunkbeds and the room was definitely too small for all the furniture in it. The room was also very dusty, but the linens were clean and so was the bathroom. The shower was great! We ate at their dinner buffet and were very disappointed. After reading some of the reviews, I wish we would of eaten at the breakfast buffet, but our dinner experience kept us from spending the money on it.

If you want staff that would do anything to help you, than Legoland Hotel is for you. While checking in, a person at the reservation desk, took our entire voucher packet, instead of just taking the one for the hotel and tickets to the park. When she handed me all the papers and booklets for our stay, I didn't realize that she had kept the voucher packet. We didn't find this out until we reached our hotel in Oslo, Norway the following night. I sent word to our travel agent through my MIL, but I also sent an e-mail to the Legoland Hotel. They were wonderful. They copied the vouchers and sent faxes to the remaining hotels on our list. How great is that? We still had about 10 nights left in our trip. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the staff, the programs and games for kids and the proximity to Legoland Park.

  • Liked — The staff, proximity to Legoland and the kids program.
  • Disliked — The room was small and dusty. Dinner buffet was disappointing.
