“A must place to stay for a Legoland visit with kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

The hotel is OK (3 star+ I would say) in terms of the traditional hotel setup, but has lots of Lego related activities for kids, has its own entrance to the Legoland (which means you can come in and rest during the day....) and has lot cheaper 2 day tickets to the park. Breakfast was good, but for lunches I would recommend Legoland park restaurants and for dinners the restaurants in LaLandia (5 min walk from the hotel)

Room Tip: The local swimming pool / spa next door is free to use for hotel guests

I'm not really sure what all the whining is about in some of the other reviews I've read here. My family (3 kids, 2 adults) had a great time and were really happy with our themed room. It was clean, tidy and fun for the kids. We also thought the service was pretty good (especially in the restaurant). Also, there's nothing like staying on the doorstep of a theme park- it is the only way to go. We found our 1 night here to be very pleasant and would recommend it. We also enjoyed the breakfast and dinners we ate in the restaurant (good choices, fresh food). There's also lots of lego and a Nintendo room for the kids to play while the adults are having a rest! We've stayed in quite a few theme park hotels over the years and this definitely sits above the average. (Have you seen the Disney hotels- terrible!)

I booked this trip to legoland for my 5 year old daughter and decided to stay at the resort hotel.
On arrival at check in it is immediately apparent that the place could be doing with a bit of a lift, it is very dated, more like an 80's motel with some rather excellent lego sculptures dotted about.
The room was a pirate room which was clean and adequate but you just get the feeling that with a bit more effort it could be a really fun place to stay.
The obvious advantage is that you're right next to the park itself with a special entrance for hotel guests and you can go back and forth to your room all day if you wish which is a massive bonus.
Evening buffet was a complete disappointment and the breakfast was more school canteen than 4 star hotel.
If i was to visit legoland denmark again, which i probably won't then i would stay somewhere else.
Thumbs down from me i'm afraid.

Overprized - even for a Dane!
We spent one night in a very small Pirate room for 2 adults and 2 children and paid 2.800 Kroner for a room and an evening buffet. And that was a special discount.
The top bunk bed had a very small railing, so one child had to sleep in our bed which was small even for two adults.
The evening buffet was very disappointing with a very small selection of food. And the service was horrendous at the buffet.
Outdoor area has a great playground and the common areas in the hotel were nice with great Lego decorations everywhere.
All in all quite disappointing and overprized.

Do not get me wrong, nothing bad with the hotel per se; if you remove the Lego theme (more on that later) you get a typical late-80s Scandinavian hotel, abundant in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, etc. It is a bit dated in the interior, but clean and well maintained. But it is just not up there in the standard of service, accommodation nor food to command Four Season resort-type prices.

The Lego theme is nice, lots of figures, posters, hints in decor, etc; but overall there is so much more potential missed! Location is great with separate entry to the park; cheapest option is to buy tickets at the reception.

Breakfast would have been better with more healthy choices and fruit; poor selection of cold cuts and way mediocre quality. Denmark has fantastic produce - what an opportunity to showcase it, why is it not taken - amazes me.

Lots of play areas for kids, which is great for parents to relax after day walking in the park...but again - why is there so little choice? Makes sense to add things like snacks for kids, milkshakes, etc... It will all result in more spend.

Again, nothing fundamentally wrong there, and staff is very nice...but the price is just not justified. If you get a good deal on the hotel - go for it, extra convenience is nice, but there is some choice in the area as well.

Of course, I cannot put money value on the child's experience and memories of staying at a Lego Hotel - it is priceless. But there is sooo much this hotel can do to make it really an "expeience of a lifetime" for both adults and kids.

Keep in mind, you will need a car to get out for food

I had booked a trip to LEGOLAND to show my 6 year old daughter around. I therefore thought it would be great to actually also live in the LEGOLAND hotel and as it is a 4 star hotel and in Denmark (my native country and a generally highly sophisticated place) I was rather confident with my choice. But this is another example of so many hotels who have somehow achieved a 4 star rating but have an overall appearance and feel of a 3 star place. The whole place needs a bit of a lift as it is rather dated. The staff is generally friendly and the rooms are ok. The proximity to LEGOLAND is of course ideal when your main purpose is to visit that place. But apart from that it is very difficult to get anywhere else as there is no train station and as busses are not running very frequently. Having said all that I would still have rated it 3 would it not have been for the amazingly bad experience I had in the restaurant for dinner. We chose the a la carte restaurant as I am not very fond of buffets apart from for breakfast. They had a conference crowd sitting right next to the restaurant with no walls in between and you could hardly hear each other talking. The food we received was the worst part of the evening. A lemony pasta which was very sour, a pasta Bolognese which looked like premade food and a sauce béarnaise for the steak which was hardly lukewarm. When asking for a warm sauce I received a sauce that was even colder and when querying this I was told that this sauce can not be served warm as otherwise it would split. Everyone knows that a sauce béarnaise should be served warm (not hot either) so it resulted in me sending all the food back. Then after waiting for 30 minutes to see if the waiter had some suggestions of how to save the evening without him coming to our table I asked the supervisor to for help. She turned around the evening with a great way of making up for the bad experience and making us feel welcome again whilst the chef was huffing and puffing in the background. So well done to her!!! I can live with mediocre food and service if I choose to pay for that. But with a room costing around the £200.00 mark plus expensive a la carte food this is just not good enough. I have to say that a bottle of Amarone for £50.00 was rather reasonable though. So I can recommend the restaurant if you just want to have a glass of wine for dinner;-)

This Hotel is simply a good Hotel, it is a bit worn out in some places and it is not a luxury Hotel, but it is good, it is comfortable and everybody is very service oriented. You will not feel anything is wrong staying here, specially if you are here with kids.

For Kids is is just amazing, lego in the rooms and almost in every corner, we spent here two nights with our 4 and 9 year old boys and they could not get enough of the place, including a room with video games all for free. They also enjoyed playing the games the Hotel offers and my son earned a price, so he was extremely happy.

Standard room with queen size bed and sofa bed (also queen size) was just big enough, but for a two night stay in Legoland and barely spending time in the room it was fine.

I think the only real negative was food, the dinner buffet we did not try because it was expensive, the first night we ordered a la carte, good quality food but also very expensive. Second night we found a great pizza place (really outstanding pizzas) in 15 minutes walk right in center of Billund. Breakfast was included but very few options and not great.

Overall a the perfect Hotel if you want to spend 2-3 nights enjoying your time with the kids in Billund and they will for sure never forget it.
