“Much better than expected...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

We went to Legoland for the weekend holiday as family with 3 kids and were pleasantly surprised by the property in contrast to our expectations on the grounds of the previous reviews. First of all the hotel looks and feels much smaller than other equivalent hotels in the equal type of locations (like Hotel Disneyland near Paris) despite actually being not so small and consist of several wings, some of them being in very peaceful locations.
We stayed in one of the Adventure rooms. The room and the wing were it is located looked very new and fresh and nicely decorated by various lego articles. It actually quite small, but surprisingly well planned and therefore can easily accommodate up to 2 adults and 4 children. Our room was on the first floor and was very quiet and overlooking into the green park.
The hotel is full of fun for kids, with various lego articles and playgrounds all around. The restaurants (they have 2 of them sharing the same kitchen) are really nothing special, but they serve their function very well-no need to keep your children waiting as on of them is buffet and the other one provides quick service.
The two problems found in the hotel: one is absence of air-conditioning in the rooms, that might be a problem during hot summer. Another is that it stays very near to airport runaway and is quite noisy once there is a plane landing of taking off ( in is not a problem of the hotel, but rather a problem of the whole Legoland location).
I believe Legoland is no alternative and after all very nice place to stay if you are travelling to Legoland with children.

Room Tip: Adventure or Pirate rooms as they are in the newly build wing

We stayed for one night in a pirate suite. Suite is a bit generous .. It was really only a small hotel room, but with bunk beds and pirate theme everywhere the kids loved it, and all the Lego stuff everywhere. The corridor was very smelly though. We couldn't work out if it was urine, damp, vomit or what.. But it was really bad. I mentioned it to the checkout staff who seemed completely oblivious to it or have any interest in fixing it. Convenient to the park

I stayed here with my family for a 2 days stay +legoland park..
The location of the hotel is perfect; right on the park, with direct access in-and-out all day so that family members conveniently can go take a rest during long days of visiting Legoland.
We did not stayed on the rooms looking to the park. We stayed on the rooms looking to the entrance, which in my opinion had an ok size for a 3 persons family, but definitely not for more than than. If you are looking for a real 4 starts hotel, then you will get deceptionated with this room: old, not good cleaning and smelling bad on toillet, not so say on the furniture that is the same from when the hotel was inaugurated.
Pros from the hotel:
- Free Wi-fi
- Buffet restaurant: elegant and delicious
- Lego treats everywhere! in the room, corridors, etc...
- Fast and efficient check in and out.
Contras:
- Cleaning of the room was bad
- Eventhough we got at 15hrs the key to our room, this one was not ready, we have to wait in the door of the room aditional 15min.
- Toillette had a bad smell coming from the suitage of the shower
- On the first day, before going to the park, we left the sign "please clean my room" at about 9hrs...then by 14hrs we decided to go for a rest in the room, and guess what...the room was not done yet. We changed the signed to "Do not disturb" and by 15hrs when we were returning to the park, there was on the floor a plastic bag containing new towells, paper, etc...what??? were they thinking not to clean?? we informed trhe reception , who apologise and informed that they did not know what was this bag about and that the room will be clean. From the park we returned at 18hrs and guess....no cleaning yet! again I had to go to the reception (as they do not answer the phone) again and ask them to clean. The room was cleaned after 19hrs. Bad for a 4 starts hotel.
- Customer service non..existence: I do not really understand why they do have a telephone in the reception if they never answer....all the times I needed something, I had to go in person there.

Summarising: if you need the perfect location and have small children that need a rest in the middle of the day, then this is the place! otherwise I recomend another hotel.

Room Tip: Bad cleaning, custumer service, but perfect location

Have you ever read the fairytail, of Hans Christian Andersen, The Emperor's New Suit? Well that was my feeling after checking out of the hotel at a special price of DKK 2,600 or USD 500. We had booked a Pirate theme room, the room was small for a family of 4 (children aged 2 and 5). The service was not very hands on or minded for the children. The facilities were sad eg. in one of the meeting rooms there were minituare golf course vintage sort. The big plus of this hotel is ofcourse the location and we we will be back for the Legoland Park - not for the hotel.
I thought that this was going to be a trophy hotel since Lego headquaters is right next door.

We (Family of five with three small kids, mum & dad) stayed at two different theme rooms. Knight room first night and princess room second night (to ensure that all kids had a good memory).

Check-in & reception:
Excellent service. Friendly and efficient. Our room change request was handled efficient and in a friendly way. We received friendly instructions around hotel facilities, restaurants (the restaurants are very very poor especially the customer service is bad - see separate reviews) and children activities. Absolutely excellent customer service.

Rooms:
There was a fishy smell in the corridor and also in our knight theme room. The room itself was very small, dated but OK and the kids loved it. There is a treasure chest in the room with Lego in it which they loved. A small Lego City model was left on each bed for the kids and there were also descriptions of the different activities for the kids - a good job done here.

Our second room, the princess room, was only two doors further down the same corridor but was perfumed by a device on the entry door so the fishy smell was largely absent in the room.

The rooms were NOT clean. Both rooms had not been cleaned well and in the second room there was waste, crumbled crackers and dried in gummy bears under the bed (kids reported that when looking for a Lego part they lost while building).

Both rooms are identical with variation in the colors, carpet patterns. They both have a huge lego dragon on the wall (male in knight room respectively female in the princess room).

Bathroom is dated but relatively clean in both cases - the price for the room is extremely high for what it is but the hotel is conveniently located directly at Legoland with access throughout the day.

In summary we feel that the price was way too high for what it was and we would have expected the theme room to be a bit more than just a standard room with a bit of decoration - it does not live up to what other parks around Europe offer for the same or even a lower price hence the poor rating.

Hotel:
It is really optimized for kids and they loved it. There is mini-golf in one room, treasure hunt, model building competition and much much more for the kids to discover.

We stayed here with our child. The park is absolutely fantastic. The hotel is extremely expensive for what it is. We had an absolutely negative experience at the "a la carte" restaurant. Terrible food, terrible service. The rooms could be considered good for a three star hotel, insufficient for a four star hotel. What struck my attention is the fact that, while in Disneyland everybody from the staff is very friendly, here it is exactly the opposite. Bad reception, bad service at the restaurant, bad service at the shop. We bought the hotel in booking.com as a special offer all inclusive, just to discover that the same offer is available here, at a cheaper price.

We stayed at the hotel Lego and one night to visit Lego and. It is highly recommendable for families with kids. We have 6 and 4 year old sons. The younger one says it is his dream to live in the hotel. Dinner facilities are great. The kids have a room to play and both dinner and breakfast are nice. Normal rooms a quite normal. We had booked 3 rooms and for one of them we had an upgrade to a family room with a view over the legoland park. The room was very nice , it has Lego bricks and a shower specially for kids apart from the adult shower. Really sweet. If you stay at the hotel, you get a nice discount to enter the park and you can start before the park opens to other people which is great as it allows you to try attractions before it gets busy. Again recommendable if you want to visit Lego and with kids!
