After reading almost all the reviews about this hostel and getting to Aarthus I was expecting a dump..but that was not the case AT ALL! Staff is really nice, the security is good ( all the rooms and the entrance door work with magnetic cards) and the location is amazing (not even 5min from the city centre). The entire hostel has a really nice look, the kitchen is pretty good and the leisure room with snooker and TV is a nice spot to hang out after a night out. If you are in the city to enjoy a good night out and meet some students from the city you have a really good variety of bars and club pretty close to the hostel, Pakhuset is a students bar and the club Train is only 10min from the hostel.
The dorm was really big, with 10 beds and we were 8 people, and they allowed us to keep the dorm just to ourselves which was pretty good! The bathrooms were shared and obviously they weren't a suite but they're alright, take some sandals and you'll be just fine!
Resuming everything, if you're looking for a pretty cheap, well located and nice hostel you won't be disappointed with this one!

If a bed and a roof over your head is all you need, this is the place.

I can't really fault this place besides its lack of cleanliness

All you can look for in a standard hostel. Security is pretty good. The dorm doors work on a card system and so does the front entrance outwith reception hours.

First glance at the room, the mattresses and pillows look as if they were picked off the streets. But once you place your nice pillow case and sheets over it your bed feels slightly more tolerable. Lockers are available in the rooms but you need to provide your own pad-lock.

There is kitchen, but the staff seem to have a problem with enforcing the "clean up after yourself" rule.

One more thing, there is a reason why the websites don't show you pictures of the bathroom facilities...not a pretty sight.

I stayed at City Sleep In and found that it was actually not a bad place to stay.

Pros:
1. Location: It is a 6 minute walk from the main bus station. If you are a budget traveler and use the bus to travel from Copenhagen, its a great place. If you are a drinker, they are numerous bars. If you are site seer, its close to city buses that can take you anywhere.

2. Organized staff: I made my recommendations via email (at tip: avoid the hostel booking websites. Just contact the hostels directly.). The staff responded quickly and even allowed me to check in very late. The staff can't be faulted. They are very friendly.

3. Safety: You have to use your keycard to get into all aspects of the hostel.

Complaints people are having:

1. Sheets: A lot of people are complaining about sheets etc. My advice is before traveling, go to Target/Tesco/Walmart and get a cheap sheet set for $9. You can save yourself a lot of trouble in any hostel by arriving with your own linens. I brought my own sheets and found no issues

2. Bathrooms: Here is another advice: Get some cheap $2 dollar beach sandals. In addition, stop by any gas station or grocery store and buy some lysol spray. Hostels bathrooms are shared by many. If you are easily grossed out, simply take these steps to ensure that you are not dealing with issues.

3. Noise: All hostels are noisy. I would recommend you invest in some earplugs (the best are soft foam ones you can get at any grocery stores).
Yes there is a disco next door but with some earplugs you can do fine.

Summary:
Denmark is very expensive. City Sleep In is a bargain. By preparing like you should for any hostel, you will do fine.

The worst place ever, I didn't know Denmark could be this bad!! I paid 46GBP about 460KR for a tiny disgusting room, everything was filthy and broken, I was glad I had a sleeping bag liner and just slept on top of everything, the bathroom along the hall was stark and dirty, tons of noise from outside. I took a photo and it doesn't even convey how bad it was. I'm sure prison has higher standards actually.
Do not be fooled by the clean and modern reception... thats where it ends!!

As a turist, I do NOT recommend using the City Sleep In at Havnegade 20 in Århus.

It is very dirty like a stable, noisy and presumably also used by unfortunate city suspects and homeless people.

Kind regards
