“When in Aarhus - use this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

After a long and tiring bus-trip from Norway, we arrived for two days stay in this very beutiful and mind-resting location. Our business was learning the many best practises from the Municipality of Aarhus. A top located and modern hotel is in such circumstances most valuable. With windows open you can go to sleep with teh soothing sound of waves. Conference facilities was disappointing. But weighed-up by a fantastic breakfast and very friendly and typical Danish nice service.
I'll be back:-)

Room Tip: Order room with the view of the Aarhus bay - most rooms have.

Stayed one night at this hotel. The hotel itself doesn't look anything special from the outside and the lobby isn't extraordinary in any way either. What is extraordinary though is if you get a room with a view over the bay of Aarhus - exceptional panoramic view over bay, land, harbour and forrest. Further, the hotel is situated virtually on the beach at the edge of the forrest, so take time to enjoy the nature during your stay.

Back to the hotel: breakfast and wi-fi included in the price. As our room was very noisy and the curtains doesn't keep the morning sun out, the sleeping quality was rather poor. The overall impression of the room including the bathroom was that a general overhaul would do good.

Would I come back: Not as a first choice. I would look for good deals in the area, but won't rule out the possibility of returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view.

Having stayed at a number of indifferent hotels in Aarhus, I am very happy to recommend this one. The rooms overlooking the bay are wonderful, have a small balcony with chairs, and the atmosphere is completely relaxing. From the windows you can hear gentle waves washing against the sandy beach--and when there is a full moon across the bay, it is spectacular.
The front desk staff was efficient, well-informed, and amazingly patient--recommending different walking routes around the area--to the nearby Marselis Forest and down to the harbor.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, although a double espresso at midday was $7.00US. The only real disadvantage was the distance--there are only a handful of restaurants open nearby--about a kilometer's walk from the hotel. But the point of the hotel seems to be able to get away from it all.

Room Tip: Getting a room on the bay/ocean side is a must.

Stayed one night here. Had seen the website and was looking forwards to enjoying the sea views from my room. Sadly this wasnt to be as I was allocated a room in an annexe building which had no views at all. "My" building only had 4 rooms and my room was on the top floor - impacted by the steep roof and needing velux windows to make the most of the space and give light.

Room was characterful but a little tired and not the cleanest. pillows were awful and several spiders were sharing the room with me. Bathroom very dated with chipped sink and a strange "wetroom" feel - a bath with shower over but no screen/curtain so the room got soaked.

Seemed to be a large group having a conference in the the restaurant which didnt look inviting so ate in the town. Breakfast next day was fine and at last I saw that view! All staff attentive and efficient.

I have probably been a bit harsh on this hotel and the location right on the beach is very good. But... it does need some money spent to bring the standards up to a level which matches the location.

First the good things: nice quiet location with stunning ocean view. Ok food and helpfull staff in the restaurant. The front desk was terrible. Very unprofessional. I get a feeling they are harvested from the same social group, and not really interested in their work. Dated look, and dark interior. No coffemaker or hairblower in room. Dusty and not clean. Small bath with universal dispenser soap.... No Pay per view as stated in hotel info.. This hotel is slowly fading away. The location is the main reason to stay. It is a 2 maybe 3 star hotel, but not at all a 4 star hotel.
