“Excellent reception service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

It's always a good start to your stay in a hotel when the staff working on reception are nice. I wish I could remember the names of people who was working there. i would like to pass on our compliments to all the staff. It was a very pleasant hotel. We had a large, clean room. Quite smart and with good towels, toiletries, water etc. We also used the bar, which was good too. Because of an early flight the next day, we didn't have breakfast but I imagine it would be good (although perhaps expensive?).
The location was good, a shorter walk from the tram stop and the shops. We didn't really notice any noise other than the usual city sounds. Definitely a good stay
thanks
sam

This Hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of Aarhus. The rooms are each unique, and while our bathroom was small, there were 2 nice chairs in our long and narrow room. The breakfast buffet is terrific, eggs, bacon, and potatoes, as well as a good selection of breads, meats and cheeses.
There is a wonderful Esspresso / caffe Latte / Mocha machine!

I have been staying at this hotel every time I'm in Aarhus. Over the last 5 yrs I have stayed here several times and never been disappointed.

To begin with its very centrally located, in the really charming old part of the city. Nice hotel and quaint surroundings. restaurants, bars and shopping all around the hotel.

The standard double rooms are fairly large, breakfast is hearty and staff is very friendly. As a single traveller I prefer to stay here as there everything available as soon as you step out.

Sure, it's expensive but it has a lot going for it, specially if you're here for a short visit.

Room Tip: The standard room is a better option even if you're single, the extra charge is very nominal com...

No better place to stay in central Aarhus. Very kind reception staff welcomed us heartily after a long drive through the countryside. The stylish room looked more like a small suite, with thick wall-to-wall carpet. Brass trimmings everywhere. Breakfast above average, lots of choice. The restaurant is a tad expensive, but so are all the eateries in town. I stayed on a business trip, but would gladly go back for a romantic get-away.

I had a quiet room overlooking central court. Huge room, great breakfast and good location to sites and Latin Quarter.

Needing to stay in the beautiful city of Aarhus in Denmark for work related reasons over a week, I booked a room at the Hotel Royal. It is wonderfully located adjacent to the historic Domkirke, one of Denmark's oldest Cathedrals. Position is great being located in the old part of the city and within a 10 minute walk from the railway station and right next to the main shopping and entertainment district. The weather had just changed into beautiful warm days with blue skies and cool evenings. Enjoying a quiet beer along the canal at one of the many bars and restaurants was almost impossible with hundreds of locals coming out to enjoy the great weather. There are plenty of restaurants to enjoy and the atmosphere with all the young University students (Aarhus has a major University with some 35000 students) exciting. A mere kilometre up the road is the beautiful area of Den Gamle By - a site where old buildings, homes and business from around Denmark have been relocated and preserved in a medieval- type village area. Some date back to the mid-1600s and are wonderfully presented for posterity. Some homes have actors portraying the original residents and present a great atmosphere. It is a must see - allow at least 2 hours.
The Hotel Royal itself is an older-style building and has been refurbished. It is quiet, perhaps a bit dark inside, room lighting is limited. Rooms are adequate, space a bit limited. The older style elevator is a delight as with the frescoes and paintings adorning the foyers and walls. The housekeeping service leaves bit to be desired - towels are not always replaced nor tissues, tea and coffee replenished. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The daily breakfast (included in the tariff) is first rate with the best scrambled eggs and crispy bacon I have had for a long time.
Overall the Hotel Royal is a good place to stay but could improve its room services a little.

Old stylish hotel with a lot of atmosphere. Second stay at this hotel which is perfectly located for exploring central Aarhus, close to the lively Latin Quarter and the new café areas along the stream. Front desk service very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a little dusty touch of wear which however is balanced by spirit and aristocracy. Large comfortable rooms, well equipped. Corridors and staircase are stylish but the impression somehow spoiled by the large modern wall decorations in the central staircase, a surprising inconsistent style. Breakfast served in a small and very charming winter garden but breakfast selection and quality should be considerably improved to match the general high level of this hotel.
