“A relaxing, clean and well functioning hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

My wife and I spent a week in the hotel as well as a two friends from Turkey. We found the hotel
relaxing and professionally ran. The hotel is located about 50 meters away from a gorgeous sandy beach. The staff was cordial and ready to help. The manager Mr Rafael Giatimis very friendly and responsive. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for relaxing vacations.

Room Tip: The 80 rooms of the hotel are located in a few units so most of the rooms are ok.

I took a 3-day package tour to the island of Skyros and we stayed at the Skyros Palace Hotel. The hotel is actually comprised of small, 2-storey buildings constructed in the traditional manner of Skyros houses. The hotel was clean, served a generous breakfast and delicious buffet meals. Skyros is the place to go when you need to relax and don't want to run around sightseeing. The beaches are lovely and local people are very friendly.

Room Tip: From the top floor, you'll have a great view, but there's no elevator. I was on the ground f...

That's definately NOT a 4* hotel.
1.No help was offered to carry our luggage.
2.No assistance or guidance at the reception.
3.Not only there was no welcome drink, we had to pay for a bootle of water in the middle of the night! The clerk at the reception was completely ignorant about the island!
4.The breakfast buffet was limited to cold pancakes, cold omelette but hot coffee in the heat of summer! No fresh juice or fruits! Only concetrated juice and jams that nobody tasted for days!
5.Despite the fact that there were tables near the pool and the garden, you were not allowed to have your breakfast outside! Only if you could pay extra from the bar for a fresh orange juice or a typical toast you were allowed to sit outside!
6.There was no manager to express our complaints and when by chance we met the chef, we were told that only 1% of visitors asks for fruits and vegetables!!! To taste pure local products such as honey, freshly baked bread, cheese and fruits you have to pay for it elsewhere! Highly NOT recommended and overpriced for the services they offer (clean rooms)!

My family and I just returned from a four-day, three night stay at Skiros Palace. We miss it already. It is spacious, clean, and the grounds and swimming pool are just beautiful. The rooms were huge for Greek hotels. The staff is kind and friendly, and the food and bar service excellent, although there is also a jaw-droppingly good traditional Greek restaurant, Stelios, just a short walk up the road. It is located in a gorgeous and peaceful ocean side setting, where one can also swim, about a 10-minute taxi ride to the north outside of the main town of Kastro. You can watch the sun rise and set over the towering mountains from your balcony. There are mourning doves calling, the scent of gardenias in the air, and goats and sheep grazing nearby. It is a fantastic value for the money, and staying there restored peace to our souls.

Room Tip: Ask for a second-floor room with a balcony (although they all have balconies) at the far end of the...
