“Great Studios - wonderful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

Booked these lovely studios after reading previous reviews and we weren’t disappointed. What a pretty setting - beautiful gardens and a great location (a quiet cul-de-sac just 2mins walk from Papadimantis Street), and with parking, which is rare in Skiathos Town.

But the best thing about Amalthia are Rania and Yannis. Such a lovely couple who cant do enough to make you welcome, taking a genuine interest in you, ensuring you enjoy your holiday. We were offered ouzo and a meze on arrival – Rania makes amazing cookies and cakes and we often found a small plate of home-made treats on our patio table each morning. The rooms are fully equipped and cleaned daily. Hairdryer, kettle, and a safety deposit box are all included.

Some reviewers mention privacy and this could be the only downside if you have a ground floor room which overlooks a communal seating area in the gardens. Amalthia are for those who want to be sociable and clearly you could find people chatting early or late in the day, outside your room, an annoyance. But we highly recommend staying here.

Thank you Rania and Yannis for a truly enjoyable stay.

Just returned home after a seven day stay here. Yanni and Jania are exceptional hosts, a welcome snack of ouzo and mezes was most welcome. The studio was comfortable and cleaned daily. The Studios are well situated in a quiet cul de sac with no passing traffic, very quiet, and a ten minute stroll to the city centre and harbour area! Highly recommended.

We just returned from a three night stay at Amalthia Studios. It's beautifully run by Yanni and Rania who are helpful, friendly and inviting. The studio was comfy, in a great location especially if you don't have a car. Just a ten minute stroll from town or to the charming portarea. Plenty of mini markets nearby to stock up on basic supplies and very close to Carrefour and the bus that takes you around the island. We would definitely come back to stay here again!

Where were the people staying who gave these studios a good review? We have been travelling to Greece for 25 years and have witnessed many highs and lows where accommodation is concerned. Amalthia studios were certainly one of the lows. The " well equipped kitchen" was one of the most basic we have seen. All the crockery and cutlery had to be washed before we could use them. The fridge was held together with wire and you couldn't change the setting. We couldn't freeze anything because the freezer never got to a low enough temp. I had to clean the outside patio before we could walk on it, looked like it hadn't been touched for weeks. It's true the studios were serviced every day but one afternoon I saw a toe nail clipping by the sink. It wasn't there in the morning and wasn't ours ..... the mind boggles. My husband has no hair and mine is short but we still kept finding very long hair on the floor! I agree with a previous comment about the owners. They were very helpfull and friendly at the start of our stay, with a beautiful meze to welcome us. When they realised we didn't need any help they seemed to avoid us. The studios are in a quiet area of town and it is easy to walk into the centre but as with other reviews woken at 5am by drunken nightclubbers. We will be going back to Skiathos as it is a lovely island but definitely no to Amalthia Studios.

Lovely studio apartment, close to the centre of Skiathos town. Perfect location if you want somewhere to stay with the convenience of lots to do. Having previously been to Skiathos and stayed in various places across the island I've always found the villages a little quiet in the evening.

We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome from Yannis and Rania, they were absolutely great hosts! Always happy to help...One night when it rained, Yannis even popped out to put the roof up on my jeep whilst we were asleep. With the homemade treats plentiful, we felt like part of the family. And not forgetting the nice gifts to take home..olive oil and a great DVD of Skiathos!

Would definitely stay there again if we return. Thanks Yannis and Rania for making us feel so welcome.

The couple who own the place try and help but they reach the other extreme. If you do not follow their recommendations, on restaurants etc they are very ironic and rude. When we opened our balcony, the whole apartment block could see inside our room. This prevented us from sitting outside and had to have everything closed. We were also give 2 single beds instead of one big one. The air-condition unit switched off by itself during the night or at early morning hours... The block is secluded in a quiet area, but you can year all the other apartment noises and in many cases drunken teenagers coming back at 5am. The shower unit was in a bad condition.

What a great experience, we have been to Skiathos 3 times and stayed in different kinds of accommodation. From the moment that we arrived, the owners Yannis and Rania were there to greet us with information on how to get the best from your stay on Skiathos including an island map and then completely surprised us with an amazing tray of meze and a bottle of local wine which was so nice we hunted the supermarkets and bought some more.
Our studio was great with a courtyard view, although any of the views would have been more than acceptable to us as the studios are in a side cul de sac so no noisy traffic comes past.
The accommodation was very clean and well kept with a small balcony to sit out for a quiet drink or breakfast. One morning we sat drinking tea and Yannis shouted good morning up to us and 5 minutes later delivered 2 pieces of delicious cheescake we were again blown away by this unexpected and thoughtful interraction with their guests.
It was a good location, 5 minutes from the main shopping street, 10 minites to the port and 10 to 15 minutes walk to the nearest beach through beautiful narrow streets.
On our last day we packed and left our cases with Yannis and Rania and went for a last minute walk around town and took their advice and went up to the church for some fantastic views.
Yannis offered to book our taxi to the airport and when we arrived back 30 mins before the cab we were invited to join Yannis for sangia on the terrace, once again beyond all expectations.
The cab arrived on time and we left with handshakes and kisses, what a fantastic experience.
A huge thank you to Yannis and Rania, whenever we go back to Skiathos, there is only one place that we will stay and that will be with you at the Amalthia Studios
