We stayed at Hotel Orsa located in Skiathos Old Town during late August 2008 for our two-week honeymoon. The hotel is a small independent, nestling in the quaint cobbled streets of this delightful and tranquil Greek island. We were attracted to the hotel because of its proximity to the town center and the stunning sea views from the balconies. Our room was probably not one of the best for overlooking the bay we had hoped for and specifically requested however, it did meet our expectations. If you are considering this hotel you should ensure that you are guaranteed a room with a sea view as rooms otherwise may have drab outlooks and overlook a neighboring private residence. Our room was very clean but could do with a little tlc especially in the bathroom/shower/toilet dept; the cracked bathroom window fails to offer aesthetic pleasure during ones ablutions! The most negative comment we would offer upon this hotel is its total disregard for the security of your personal belongings, the hotel offers no safe or safe deposit facilities either in your room or at reception, when we enquired upon this basic and what we would consider a fundamental service we was told that these facilities can be rented at the towns Tourist Information Office! Furthermore and to a greater concern, after the daily cleaners attendance, our balcony doors were left open allowing easy access from neighboring rooms and our ground floor bathroom window left wide open onto the street! We choose to run the risk and 'hide' our passports, wallets and cr cards on top of the wardrobe, however we would not recommend that practice now that every man and his dog has read this! We stayed on a B&B basis that we believe is the only option available, although the displayed tariff rates do suggest otherwise, listing the 'breakfast' (yes, in inverted commas) at 8 Euros. 'Breakfast' is a joke (even for Greek standards), on one 'special' occasion we was surprised to be presented with a bowl of 7 peach segments, we thought that the girl who undertakes all of the hotels duties must have forgotten to return with a serving for the other one of us. I politely asked for another serving to be told, 'oh no sir, the one bowl is to share'! By this time my wife had exceeded her allocation of 3.5 segments and I was left without. From that day on we purchased musili and milk from the supermarket! The positives are - cleanliness, sea views, air con at no extra cost, good hairdryer, tranquil setting, location to town (but do not consider this hotel if you are not of good health as the 39 steep steps from sea level are challenging - and we're fit!). Overall we had a good stay at Orsa and Honeymoon but would not return to this particular hotel unless the security and breakfast facilities improved and this could so easily be achieved at a minuscule capitol investment and revised working practices.
