“suited our needs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

We were on our sailing trip and just needed one night in Poros and Manessi Hotel suited our needs quite well.
The hotel was quite during our visit and we were all given water view rooms which was great.

Wife and I spent a night in Manessi Hotel and it was very good. It is located 100m from the ferry point by the seafront. The room was reasonably big and clean with an individual AC/Heating unit which was effective. The bathroom was big and the shower was hot and powerful. It was quiet when we were there. The hotel entrance was at a higher level with 20-30 steps from the street. There was no lift in the hotel (on 3 floors I think), so if one has heavy bags it could be a bit troublesome but it wasn't an issue to us. Supermarkets, many cafes and restaurants were just nearby. We strolled round the small round tip of the island in c1.5hrs and it was an excellent walk. The Clock Tower was just behind the hotel up the top of the hill. The Greece mainland was a few hundred meters away from the seafront and one could simply catch a river boat to pop over.

Poros is a nice island and we'd recommend Manessi Hotel for its location and value for money.

This is a great hotel. It is very clean and well maintained. George Manessis is a great host and provides good insights into the best places to eat and enjoy. The view is great from the room and the amenities are sufficient for your needs. There are lots of great places to eat within a short distance of the hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for one night before starting a sailing charter holiday. Because of flight and Hydrofoil timetables we turned up at about 8:30 in the evening but the hotel is very handy being almost opposite the Hydrofoil dock. This is a charming little hotel, which was great value for money, with a very friendly and helpful receptionist, It's right on the front but is entered at the side and up some steps. Our room was on the top floor and there isn't a lift but they do have a quirky system where they can winch your bags up to your floor with an electric winch located in the stairwell (made us smile!). The room looked new fitted out and smart and was comfortable with AC with a remote control, the only thing about the room we didn't like was the shower which had a curtain and seemed quite small, but this didn't cause us any problems and wouldn't put us off coming back. We had a balcony with 2 comfy chairs and this looked over where the superyachts berthed, I just wish we had had more time to sit and enjoy the view.
We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but instead went to a nearby cafe and had a very nice continental breakfast there. Free WIFI is available in the lobby of the hotel and also in many of the bars and cafes nearby. Poros is a lovely place where we could easily spend more time, there are lots of cafes and restaurants, everyone is friendly and it doesn't seem to attract the noisy type of holidaymaker. Trips can be made to other islands by Fast Cats or Hydrofoils and it is only 1 hour (by Hydrofoil) from Pireus (Athens).

You can't beat the location of this hotel as it is right on top of the ferry dock. Some rooms have a view looking out at the water, but our room was basic and looked out to a little alley. I believe the hotel was recently renovated as everything was new. This hotel has a business-like feel to it, so I guess you could say it lacks some charm. However, the lady working the reception was incredibly charming and friendly. She was very helpful and answered all my questions. These owners care about their place, as they sent me an email apologizing for not being present during check-out as I checked-out with the cleaning lady, which I didn't mind. I just maybe wanted to say thank you to the helpful lady running the reception, but there were no worries on my end and I thought it was thoughtful and nice that they sent me an email apologzing for not being present for our departure. Thank you for the pleasant stay.

I booked the Manessi Hotel because of its position, on the Quayside at Poros Town on the Island of Poros. The position and Views from this lovely little Hotel are amazing.
The Staff are so accomodating; one day I was unwell and the Receptionist went out on her scooter to get medicine, food and water for me.
The rooms could be called 'a little on the small size' but in truth that was more to do with my size than the size of the rooms. We had adjoing balcony rooms on the first [reception] floor. Large balconies facing Galatas and the Pelaponese. No rush to catch boats, ferries etc.. You can sit on your balcony and see them approaching down the Sound and still get to the Quayside before they arrive.
In fact there is only one drawback at the Manessi; there are two flights of stairs outside the Hotel from Street level to the Recetion floor. If you have movement difficulties or are elderly this may be a problem. I was recovering from operations on my feet and when we arrived the climb was difficult. However, by the end of the Holiday I was climbing them 4 times a day without much trouble. It's an ill wind as they say.
I thoroughly reccomend the Manessi.

Room Tip: Ask for a FRONT BALCONY room whatever floor you're on.

The hotel is in an excellent location. The hotel is very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Nice balcony. Great view of the port from balcony. The rooms are small but this is Europe. Remember you are just sleeping there so it’s not a big deal. Free wifi. Great hot water.

Tip: Café Asteria (downstairs from hotel for breakfast). Greek yogurt with honey and fruit is awesome. Tip for scooter rental – Go to Stellio’s (near Poseidon Restaurant). Tip for a traditional Greek breakfast go to Il Morso (near Poseidon Restaurant). Fresh farm eggs. Awesome food. Tip: Ice Cream – Naywto Mavia (Near port).

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room in front with a balcony. The view is terrific.
