“DO NOT trust this hotel with your booking!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

We chose this hotel many months ahead of our wedding anniversary holiday. We booked and confirmed by email and phone to avoid confusion and looked forward to use of the hotel's suite as the last piece in the travel jigsaw. It didn't happen. The reception clerk spoke great English, but only to say 'ah yes. The suite. It is already taken. But you can have the room over there,' bear in mind the suite occupied the whole top floor with a big balcony overlooking the harbour. The room he offered us was just above a busy bar, shoebox sized, and had no balcony! It took only a few seconds to decide it wasn't for us, and all we got was a shrug of the shoulders and a resigned, been there bore look from the reception clerk. So at 11 at night we had nowhere to stay. DON'T GET CAUGHT LIKE THIS YOURSELVES, avoid the Manessi. Thankfully the people in the bar and travel agency below the hotel saved our day by getting us a room at what turned out to be a fantastic hotel, the POROS IMAGE, which we WOULD recommend. Manessi Hotel is a small budget hotel centrally located less than 100 metres from the Flying Dolphin terminal. Refurbished to a good standard, the rooms are pleasant and comfortable and it's worth paying the small extra charge for a sea view. The attractive reception also doubles as the breakfast room so you may prefer to take breakfast in your room, if ordered. Rooms overlooking the seafront may not be the best for light sleepers.
This is not a hotel for those with limited mobility as it's up steep steps but, otherwise, it's a picture-perfect location right underneath the famous Poros clock tower. Great for harbour-side strolls and there must be 20 or more bars and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Small boats will whisk you to mainland Galatas for about 1 euro each way. It only takes 10 minutes. There you can hire a car to explore. You can also hire motorbikes on Poros itself.
Manessi is featured in several on-line booking engines but you can also book direct with the hotel via their website, which may well work out cheaper. Booking, reception and housekeeping staff were all welcoming, efficient and courteous. And the manager was really helpful when we encountered a ferry strike!
Travel to Hydra and Spetses is easy via the Flying Dolphins and this makes Poros a great location for exploring the rest of the Saronics and mainland sites like Epidavros. If I do this trip again I think I would hire a car from Pops at Athens Airport and drive the mainland route via Corinth. You can dump the car at Galatas for a nominal charge if you want a one-way hire. There's a small car ferry twice an hour or more between Galatas and Poros. I would definitely stay at the Manessi again.

Room Tip: Pick a sea-view room for the wow factor but not necessarily the quietest rooms in the hotel. Breakfa...

The hotel was excellent, we had a nice stay, it is very centrally located in Poros (just a few minutes to the taxi station). Very clean, comfy rooms. Our balcony was overlloking the sea. We also had the best breakfast at Thanasis just under the hotel, at Asteria cafe! Everyone was so friendly over there!!!!

We really liked staying at the Manessi Hotel, and were really surprized (in a good way) of how cute the hotel was - it is very clean, cozy and feels like it was built just now. It is familly owned, and we got all the help we needed to enjoy our short stay at Poros. I would honestly say its the best i could hope for, and i didn't even book in advance - i just opened tripadvisor and saw that it got good reviews, so i went for it..

How to spend your time in Poros - Rent a 4 wheel and explore the island! it is amazing! but know that if you stay on the main road you are missing the point.. We just rode and entered every unsurfaced road we saw on the side of the road, you see the most amazing views.

Room Tip: No elevator, so be carefull when choosing a room. I think that the non-superior rooms are more than...

We had meetings in Athens and decided to take a quick break in between on Poros for a few days. We got the flying dolphin from Piraeus (cost about 48 euros for us both) and an hour later we were in the sunny harbour at Poros which is just lovely! The Manessi hotel is right there in the centre of the 'action' above one of the many lovely cafes. The steps up to the hotel are quite steep (but lovely white marble!) and then our room was on the top floor which was a bit of an effort for the thighs (no lift) but it helped work off all the lovely bread and feta cheese we'd eaten! The room was perfect for a short stay, not huge but immaculately clean, newly renovated, neutral colours, flat screen TV, dark wood furniture etc but the highlight without doubt was the view which was MAGNIFICENT! We had double doors which opened on to a lovely balcony with the harbour below and panoramic views out to sea, it was simply sensational and like something out of a movie! Think Mama Mia and you won't be far off the mark.
It is a family owned hotel (they also own the new Agni hotel if I have the name right) and the staff could not have been more helpful. We hired a quad bike as soon as we arrived and loved bombing around looking for beaches and nice places to eat - which is about all there is to do on Poros! It really was idyllic for a few days break though (longer if you're looking for absolute relaxation and happy to do nothing but eat drink and sunbathe) and having seen the whole island we knew we had found the best place to stay on the island - will definitely re-visit if we're Athens and have time again. Fully recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for the best room with the best views!

This hotel is ideally based centrally in the quiet harbour, seconds away from where the FlyingCats arrive and depart. The hotel itself, recently renovated, is modern, clean and friendly.
The service at the hotel was above and beyond what was expected. Breakfast was brought to our room at whatever time we dragged ourselves out of bed, and we ate on our beautiful balcony overlooking the harbour.
The situation of the hotel is similarly ideal as it is in the heart of Poros Town, surrounded by bars and Tavernas, with bicycle, quad, and scooter rental minutes down the street.
When we return to Poros we will certainly be staying in Manessi Hotel again - it is very inexpensive for what it has to offer, which is fabulous accomodation in the heart of a gorgeous island.

the hotel was very nice, clean, with an awesome view of the peloponnise. The bad thing was that our room and bathroom were tiny!
