“Moderate hotel in Sparta”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

This hotel is OK if you are travelling through the Peleponesos. It has however little atmosphere, but is conveniently located in the center of the city. The hotel is a bit dark and outdated. The staaf is friendly. Rooms are clean and OK. Not recommended for a long stay or if you are in a romantic mood.

Room Tip: Doesn't really matter. View is not nice wherever you are.

Third hotel on Cosmos tour, one night stay dinner included. When we arrived we tried to put the card in the electric switch to turn lights on, but there wasn’t one. Creeping into the pitch dark room my wife fell over the end of the bed, which protrudes beyond the alcove wall in what is a fairly small room, and bruised her leg – not a good start! We were in a back room so no view but quiet. Dinner was included which was quite good, breakfast also par for the course. Centrally located on the main street it is in an ideal position for visiting the town.

Location can't get more central than this: at the corner of the two main streets of the town, a few blocks from the bus station. The lobby was crowded and noisy, but my room on top floor was another world. Windows facing backyard, I didn't hear much of the traffic outside.

Only some old parts remaining in the bathroom showed that the hotel is not new. Everything was nicely renovated and modern style. My room was good and clean and there was even a small balcony with a table and chairs. The bed was a bit too hard, but so they were in all the Greek hotels where I stayed.

The women at the reception were polite and nice, breakfast was good, there was free wi-fi in the room... I think this hotel is a good choice.

Room Tip: I 'd avoid rooms facing the street; there is a lot of traffic.

The room was quite new and well fitted out but the air conditioning didn't work. When I complained I was told that as it was only April they hadn't turned it on yet. I said yes but the room was too hot and their attitude was basically 'tough'. We slept with the windows open but the traffic noise was dreadful. The modern town of Sparta is a dump and only worth visiting for the atmospheric old ruins of Old Sparta within walking distance. They are completely open to wander through so see them before they are turned into a theme park or closed archaeological site. No need to stay in Sparta to see them though!

Room Tip: Ask if the air conditioning is working before you check in as the traffic noise is dreadful if the w...

Visiting Sparti is a bit like a trip to Scranton except Scranton is nicer, but if you have to, this place is okay, barely. It's a high-rise motel with very small rooms, so small that the furniture is like the 7/8 scale furniture that unscrupulous developers use to furnish small houses in new subdivisions. The staff was terribly nice and the breakfast the usual hearty fare but doing anything except sleeping in the rooms would be quite depressing. This may explain the largish well-lit public space just inside the front door.

Room Tip: Looking at the fire-exit chart I discovered that all rooms are the same size (small). A high floor...

Maniatis hotel provides the basic standards to accomodate you in Sparti with a cheap price.. Central location, clean rooms with great views, basic breakfast. Mystras -world heritage site- located only 10 mins away with the car.

Room Tip: Pick a room in the upper floors. Better view - less noise.

This is an older hotel by kept in good condition. The breakfast (on a Cosmos tour) was good. The bed was quite hard/solid. Free wifi worked well. The rooms were clean and tidy. The hotel is located right in town so everything is close.
