“Absolutely Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012 via mobile

We had such a sudden absolutely amazing experience in this beautiful, super friendly, great location family hotel!! Location is high in the forest mountains, in the hottest month of July it is very cool at night and not hummed in the day time. Amazingly located the hotel consists of villas with balconies to enjoy the air and views. Furniture is beautiful and feels absolutely new, each room has chimney. There are not enough words to describe all positive emotions about this place, must go and see yourself

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

We stayed at the Ilaeira just after Christmas 2011. We already had a good idea that the stay would be enjoyable based on the reviews read prior to the trip but we were seriously blown away with what we experienced when we got there. Peggy was excellent in terms of email contact in the lead up to the stay, including organising her cousin to pick us up from the KTEL bus terminal in Sparti on arrival. My wife and daughter went up to our room while I organised a few things with Peggy at the desk and when I went up they were in raptures with the room. Extremely clean, comfy beds. great views over the Eurotas Valley and back up to Mt Taygetos and tailor made toiletries!! The whole resort is designed to Peggy's vision and it is like being in a fairytale. All the Christmas decorations were still up, the fireplaces were going strong, the coffee and hot chocolate were first rate and the service impeccable!!! The staff could not do enough for us. Always obliging and service with a smile. The breakfasts were sensational and we ate for six instead of three! The restaurant was also excellent and we ate there all three evenings. Wonderful menu with a first class chef. And the salads - wow! Peggy organised transport for us for two day-trips - one to Sparti and the archaeological sites etc, the other to Mistras where we had a great day (only 30 mins from the resort by car). What views! The weather was also wonderful - cold nights but very clear and sunny days even if chilly in the mornings! I had trouble getting wife and daughter out of the little shop Peggy has in the resort as well! We were extremely sorry when we had to leave as we had all become good friends with Peggy and the staff! Peggy and her dad even drove us to the bus terminal again in Sparti when we left! We stayed for three nights and it was one of the real highlights of a month in Greece! A complete surprise package in this part of Greece! Congratulations to Peggy and her family for what they have achieved with this resort! We LOVED it!!!!!

We have toured mainland Greece for several years now and this hotel rates with the most memorable for all the right reasons. The access is about 7km up a narrow road that may be a little challenging in the dark if you wanted to eat elsewhere and that is about the only possible negative I can think off. Previous reviews have covered the other excellent plus points. I would add however, that the quality of the furniture, fittings and decoration screams that this hotel is run for pleasure rather than profit. The photos dont do it justice. The icing is the service - every request and question was met with the response 'of course'. We could not have felt more welcome or relaxed and no amount of investment can buy that. A truly winning combination. Well done to all the staff and to the foresight that funded it. The swimming pool will be worthwhile when it arrives.

Room Tip: We saw several and each was individual but all excellent. Dont be put off by what they call the PIN...

So far we've stayed in five hotels in Greece and this one by far is the best one. Service is very warm and attentive. Rooms are spotless and well decorated. Beds in Europe are usually pretty hard, at Ilaeira you'd be sleeping on clouds. Bathrooms are large and showers very convenient. They also have a nice fitness center. Breakfast has nice choices, and if you want something else, they will prepare it for you if they can. Wifi is strong.

The only Issue some might have with the hotel is that it is outside of Sparta. However, as far as I'm concerned that is only a plus. There are many interesting historic sites in and around Sparta, but the town itself looks like a provincial town after light bombing. It has so much unrealized potential. So enjoy the beauty, comfort and quiet of a wonderful hotel.

Every was perfect!!! Amazing view!!! But we have to be very carefully and it was little difficult to get to the villa( we have onebedroom villa on the top of resort) because of 2 children (2 years old n 6 months). Resort has only 1 restaurant. And what is upset us that it spouse to be a sauna in the villa but there wasn't. there is steam cabin that was not working unforchantly. And we was only foreigners!!! Anyway we have great time!!!!!

Where else in Greece does one find the combination of spaciously situated villas in a lush garden, furnished with taste at the highest levels of comfort, with sweeping views over the valley, an excellent, modestly priced, restaurant, and marvelous hike & bike trails (all the way to the top of Taygetos at 2400 m)? Nowhere else. Throw in the proximity of Sparti, Monemvasia and Mystra and you have an irresistible proposition. Highly recommended.
